The temperature in full sun on my patio in Ryde yesterday was 49C by my accurate mercury thermometer. It was 42C in the shade. Why hasn’t anyone else reported it? Am l recording it wrong? It was 35C today yet the weather folk say it’s a lot cooler…how?
l am puzzled? How is the weather temperature recorded by the professionals?

Dora😊

Whats your July record TM? Cant be far off now? The 42 year record here is 31.7C so it's a dead cert to go Id say.

Certainly a good chance of a high minima tonight for you aswell looking at the 925hPa temps forecast!

Currently hot and sunny with a temp of 28.8C here after a brief cloudy interruption in the last 15 minutes. The min last night was 17.7C.

The July record is 31.2c on the 25th in 2019, the record for any month is 32.5c on August 9th 1990. Currently the Davis on the roof mast is showing 30.1c but a few patches of Ac castellanus have developed and shut out the sun for the last few minutes so I suppose it depends on whether these disperse or become more prevalent as to whether the record is broken or not.

Very hot and sunny with almost unbroken sunshine. The maximum temp of 35.3C is 3.6C above the previous 42 year record set on 25th July 2019 and 1.3C above the all-time record set on 3rd August 1990. The minimum humidity was 16% which is also a new low record, beating the previous record of 18% on 25th March 2017.

Currently 34.7C and 18% humidity. Wind 4mph variable.

With your location John you stand a chance of being very close to the new all time high tomorrow if what we are told will happen.
