The temperature record for Ibiza is lower than that of the UK?

Recommended Posts

I was surprised to find out that the record temperatre for Ibiza is only 38.4 degrees, which is 2 degrees less than the record for the UK.  A  record temperature of 38.4 degrees seems quite low for a Mediterranean Island.  I would have expected the record to be well over 40 degrees, when you consider that mainland Spain has a record temperature of 51 degrees.  Even Majorcas record temperature is only 41.5, higher than the UK record but not by that much.

I find it hard to believe that the UK record temperature is higher than the Ibiza record.  Do any weather experts know why this could be?

Those islands have a super consistent diurnal range. I monitor the temps there rather closely in the summer, it’s near-nailed on that each day & night are going to be around the same (time of year respective). As mentioned above, they’re tiny & surrounded by water.

It’ll be broken in the coming years though I’m sure.
