Severe thunderstorms in the UK May 29. 1999

Hello all, hope everyone is doing well. I recently discovered a video of severe thunderstorms in Southern England on May 29 1999.  It was a very impressive video, lots of loud thunder.  Does anyone know the cause of this event. I found an academic article on this event but was unfortunately unable to read it because the document wasn’t accessible with my screen reader software.

Hi, thanks for the link. So I was able to open it, but whenever I opened the link the screen reader says image, image  most of the way through the article. I wonder if it’s because it is a scanned document?

Just curious, was it similar to the mcs of June 24 1994, or was it a squall line or bow echo system?
