.......... thats not "early" june though.. im aware of later june heat, im trying to find out just how this years heatwave compares to those of the past..

theres no 34c in 2005 on the 20th... not according to torro, the date record is 32.2c set in jersey in 1917............ 32.6 on the 19th.. is that it? not a date record though

Oh alright then, my bad! 🙄

Actually, I think it was the 19th when 34C was recorded at St James Park, London?  Deary me, the grey matter is deteriorating with age! 😥

Remember June 2017 being a consistently very warm month. Eclipsed by June 18 so doesn't often get mentioned.

We have had a truly memorable spell of heat, I think we managed 7 days 25 degrees or more, yesterday didn't quite make it and today saw 23 degrees, still very warm for mid June.

It was a lot poorer for us down here. The week-long hot spell was truly exceptional with clear skies and very hot temperatures but outside of the 13th-21st, only 45 hours of sunshine were recorded!! It was also fairly wet with 12 successive days of rainfall in the first half of the month, including a maximum of 13.8c on the 5th and 13.6c on the 30th. An odd month in these parts!

Not quite early June, more mid June, but 2017 had a notable heatwave between the 14th and 21st.

Maxes for Heathrow:

I remember this one! I was living in Twickenham at the time, which is obviously not too far away. It was the first time in all my years working in education that we were allowed to remove our ties and un-do our top buttons.

Such heat seems trivial now, but it was near the start of the recent high maxima that have become the norm every summer.
