This is heading our way, if the NHC is correct. It is expected to become a cat 3 or 4 tomorrow, but is very unlikely to hit at Hurricane strength when it gets here at the weekend, but still given the trees are still in full leaf this is going to cause issues.

Thankfully it switched; it was already looking to not be heading our way last night, now if the NHC is correct it's heading to Iceland, shouldn't be anything of note now for anyone.

What causes it to switch that way? There is no block of high pressure over us

Bit slower for us at the weekend with a fairly cloudy ridge for Saturday. Then turning wet and windy from the west during Saturday night and particularly on Sunday afternoon as ex-Nigel nears. There has already been a fair amount of rain (and gusty winds) from ex-Lee overnight. Flood and rain/wind warnings continue today.

Its fortunate that Nigel has maintained it's more northern track during each model run as the windyty charts a few days ago were indicating that Northern Ireland/Western Scottish Isles would have taken the full brunt of Hurricane-force winds as the centre was expected to have moved NEwards and back out into the North Sea. At least for those communities it offers some respite as the energy displacement dissipates further the longer it transits into sub-tropical status, it won't quite be the +90mph gales as forecast but it'll still be noticeably breezy.

Latest NHC prediction has this not even getting to Iceland, going to in effect die out. Today is its last day as a Hurricane, down to 34 knots by Sunday.

Met Office have issued an early yellow warning for rain for SW Scotland, the Firth of Clyde and an arc covering parts of Stirlingshire, Perthshire and Aberdeenshire, because of this system.

Wondering if this is likely going to become an amber warning closer to the time?

Secondary Low gave a windy night for Scotland.

And plenty of rain on Sunday/night
