I was actually a bit surprised to learn that no one has talked 12P/Pons-brooks yet. From what I’ve seen it looks like it will approach Magnitude 4.5 for us in the UK during the late-evening in mid March, also if anyone whips out there star tracker it can be seen now. It’s location is just below the Andromeda Galaxy and the Comet will not be visible for us in the UK after mid-April.

To my current knowledge it looks to be of a similar magnitude to Comet E3 (ZTF) that we had last year but potentially brighter as E3 (ZTF) was magnitude 5.

Here are the current photos of it:

The Tall Weatherman Those pictures are really impressive! I'm thinking heading out somewhere that's dark enough and has a decent enough views to the north/northwest.

The weather isn't looking too bad in the coming days so I'm predicting a few late nights in my immediate future 😅 ☄️

Found this posted on the comet watch Facebook group, captured on the 02/03/24

Absolutely stunning!

Comet 12P/Pons brooks is looking better everyday I see the photos. If we somehow manage a clear night here the Comet is easily visible through small binoculars and under properly dark skies it looks to be visible only just through the Naked eye.

Also the Comet seems like a great photo opportunity paired up with Andromeda and the Triangulum.

I know my first photo looks feeble compared to the others but I only managed 1 minute and 30 seconds of exposure time.  The Andromeda galaxy, the Triangulum and the Comet are all visible throughout the grainy image.

I managed to take some untracked photos last night featuring 35 shots of Comet 12P/Pons brooks. It seems to be getting brighter every day I see it.

Managed to catch the last glimpse of Comet 12P Pons brooks while on holiday despite the sunset light. The next big comet will be Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) if it doesn’t disintegrate.
