It's why people have the mistaken belief that Heathrow should be discounted. If you keep closing all the inner city or urban stations, one of what's left will be the warmest. Heathrow isn't close to being the warmest place in London (and even now SJP, Kew and Teddington are warmer), it's just all the other warmer stations have been closed.

If I recall correctly, the unofficial highest temperature of 2023 was closer to +35°c. That may have been recorded as official but the closest official station had been closed. It makes you wonder if we'll see some disproportionate official highest temperature records in future.

 cheeky_monkey Heathrow is slightly warmer on average, by 0.1c or 0.2c, but they share daily maxima quite evenly.

All the other weather stations that aren't in SW London or St James's Park are at elevation. If you corrected their temperatures to 25masl, they would be warmer than Heathrow.
