Same here, all im getting is distant rumbles. The cloud base is very dark almost completly black. By the way, you may have seen the funnel i spotted yesterday. Although it was more towards hitchin.

Very dark to the north of me with thunder heard.

witnessed a small short lasting funnel cloud today. Managed to record it on my dads camcorder although i cant upload anything as it records onto tapes. Besides it was about 2 or 3 miles away.

Regular rumbles of thunder now. Hopefully i'll get another storm pass through today.

Storm has been here roughly an hour but is now a few miles away. Thunder still very often though.

Just had a huge flash of lightning and 15 seconds later a loud rumble of thunder, so its about 3 miles away from stevenage now.

Looks like a cell is approaching me from the north west, very dark and is begining to rain.

Did anyone else in Herts see the storm i had here in St. Albans?
I dont think i did but i have had some thunder today at about 11.30 and 15.45, also had a storm pass me to the north recently.

Yea I can see that to the north here, quite big rumbles of thunder coming from it. I agree with your prediction too! Plenty more to come though, there's loads over the midlands coming down to us.
The way this system is rotating, anything you get in Stevenage will arrive here shortly after.
It's turned more NWrly this afternoon, having been more Wrly earlier.

Its a shame they are moving so quickly though. They seem to only stick around for about 15 minutes before moving on -
very frequent thunder but it seems i am missing it by a knife edge

Stands for Mesoscale convective system - just think of it as a cluster of merged thunderstorms.

This storm is still rumbling on........ No rain now but still very often strikes of lightning further away but also still some quite close and some very deep rumbles of Thunder.
Close lighting here in stevenage now, taken a while to get here though :lol:

A couple of cells have just popped up here in Herts, heard a couple of very distant rumbles of thunder.
Im in stevenage Tommyd1258. Where are the cells at the moment mate? Any chance of them coming in my direction?

Sorry about the late post. The storm that was active over hitchin/baldock was over stevenage for about 45 mins. Very heavy rain and some hail mixed in. thought it had passed when there was a CG strike under a mile away. Overall it was a deacent storm with several CG's and CC's
