  1. 90s were lush for storms - every summer we'd experience insane, intense imports lasting for several hours, and daytime events where you'd get several storms in one day...even the early noughties were good - but the last 6 or 7 years or so have become increasingly dire, within the SE losing out on quite a bit also as well as Western areas - MCS' and the like have had a real tendency to shift East - I'm beginning to fear the increasingly infamous 'Kent clipper' will become a distant memory ...then it'll be God knows how many years before the cycle resets again (which I'd expect to be the case)

This was when i found storms scary and spent the night under the covers, whereas now i would probably stay up all night watching it!

  2. Don't count on that though! Its all still quite up in the air.

I know, i know clap.gif but since i started to follow to be interested in this early last year, i haven't had a decent storm. At it seems that they don't happen anymore, i remember when i was younger i would wake up to loud thunder and frequent lightening during the night. That wasn't long ago as i'm 16 but storm potential has seemed to have gotten worse since then doh.gif

  3. Bit overwhelmed with the amount of discussion in this thread!

So, can anyone give me a simple-ish explanation on what's going to be occurring over the weekend storm wise? Noticed MCS's have been mention, where about' so far are these forecast to pop up?

Sorry if this is an annoying post, i'm knew to this having become interested in storms properly last year and find it difficult to read the data etc. Learning a lot from you guys just by reading the thread, although most of it goes over my head blum.gif

    Cheers.

  4. Had about 4 or 5 showers pass through today with all of them dropping hail. Most of it very small insignificant hail. The last shower to pass about 2 minutes ago, although only the edge dropped the biggest hail which was about 2mm or 3mm in size, not big i know, but makes a lovely sound on the conservatory clap.gif

Edit: seems the heftier showers slightly to the west of here passing through northampton etc.

  5. All rather uneventful :whistling:

Remember this imported MCS in May 08 - was a cracker! More of the same this year would be awesome :drinks:

Two different viewpoints of the same MCS!

Wow, thats got the mouth watering! Constant rumbles of thunder :yahoo: Do you know what areas of england this storm hit, i would be interested to know.

EDIT: Sorry, hadn't watched the second video, kent.

  6. Right, i know its only january and we should all be trying to enjoy the cold weather, but i am really looking forward to seeing a few storms. I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread on what people would like to see in 2010 storm wise.

The one thing i would love to witness this year is a storm during the night. Don't recall a storm in the night for a few years unless i have slept through it whistling.gif

    Okay guys, what are yours?

    cheers Liam
