  1. Looking at the radar...to my untrained eye the front does not seem to be making any real progress eastward at all...everything running SSE/NNW along the front. This makes me fear the worst for most of us...a band of cloud with a few dribs of rain is what I fear we'll end up with.
  2. The scenario you describe is identical to what occured on July 3rd 2001....not sure many people in the west of the UK have forgotten what went on then!
  3. Expect tomorrow to go mammaries up big style. Once the words "thundery rain" were mentioned I decided...thats it..no chance now. Quite staggering really for this hot spell to fail to deliver on the storm front for so many of us. Of course I could be completely wrong but I dont expect to be. As for the "embedded storms" rot...pah! yeah right...they'd be embedded storms the size of a pinhead yes? Think I'll be moving to Florida...at least I'll see something then!
  4. Heavy shower has started here but as I'm still a member of the no storms club - no thunder - naturally  I give up!
  5. Hey you should be glad about the lack of warnings...dont want the MetO jinxing it again do you?
  6. Same here...lasted for about 30 seconds then stopped.
  7. Nice vid Paul...just proves how well isolated the storms have been so far. No indications so far of anything forthcoming but it's early yet. One thing is for sure though, its a damn sight hotter than yesterday. EDIT : Already 25c at Hawarden with 20c dewpoint according to XC weather.
  8. I was awake till gone 2 this morning Paul...too bloody hot...can report that nothing untoward happened here at all...must have passed someway north of me.
  9. If anything summed up the reason for my scepticism of the Met Office forecasts/warnings...it was summed up this morning for me by that infuriatingly chirpy burpy Kirkwood woman. It's one thing when they get forecasts wrong...or put out screamingly inaccurate warnings but this morning...she did the ultimate in stating that my part of the country was "under a lot of cloud blah blah hefty showers.." I nearly spat my coffee out when she said that.....then just to make sure I was not going mad..I looked outside again at the clear blue sky and blazing sunshine! if they cant get nowcasts right, how are we supposed to believe the forecasts?
  10. There's the door...out you go (punts ex-member up the backside) GERCHA!!!!
  11. I can safely say that from now on I will be paying NO more attention to Met office weather warnings, as today they achieved the hat trick of putting me in a weather warning area and bingo...nowt happened. I dont believe the hype they are coming out with one iota....I foresee a very wet day and nowt else.
  12. My clearest recollection of that night was the frequency of the lightning and thunder...it was almost like being at a strobe light show...flashing every second at its peak and as for the thunder...one explosion after another...incredible.
  13. Dont believe them....dont believe them....dont fall for it...It'll only end in disappointment if you fall for it. Expect nowt and then if (and it's an IF the size of the planet Jupiter) things do kick off it'll be a huge bonus.
  14. Thursday is definately last chance saloon...All I can see happening sadly is loads of rain. Then will be the added frustration as one chirpy weather presenter after another goes on about "thundery" rain. Were there any justice we'd have a repeat of the massive thunderstorms of 3rd July 2001...Jeez do I remember THAT night.
  15. Errrr...yeah righto....bang as in the equivalent of an amoeba sized Christmas cracker....believe it when I see/hear it weather girl
  16. but...but...but....its a UK heatwave...honest...the BBC and the Daily Express said so
  17. Just expect a lousy day with a lot of rain and suppressed temperatures and you wont be disappointed. If you wish to put your foot through the telly when the BBC forecasters spout on about "thundery" rain by all means please do so...just make sure you send them the bill
  18. Look I realise todays been a real non event but posting pics from a year ago is pretty desperate
  19. Oh hell...not another one! They've already given two duff warnings in recent days...might as well go for the hat trick eh? There's more chance of them finding Elvis on the moon than there is of any thunder today....I'll eat my hat if I turn out to be wrong. PISH TOSH!
  20. Met office warning for Thursday...oh well that's Thursday knackered then! Big downgrade tomorrow. Light rain and drizzle for Thursday. Wager anyone? :winky:
  21. It's been cloudy and raining on and off all morning here...truth be told I reckon those of us in the west of the UK have had it as far as the heat goes. That wont stop the media going on about "Britain" (meaning the South East of England) sizzling though eh?
  22. I have just read a very ominous post on one of the other weather related forums basically saying that the chances of this hot humid spell going out with a bang have practically gone, and to expect nothing more than a gradual change to cooler fresher weather, as it (the electrical breakdown) supposedly happened last Thursday (hmmmm must have slept through that one as I didnt see or hear a damn thing!) What a joke!
  23. Storm soddingly bypassed me an hour and a bit ago....looked for all the world like a direct hit...sky was getting darker and darker to the South/South East...I hear the first rumble (yours truly thinks...THIS IS IT HERE WE GO)...but no...it decides to veer away from me at a rate of knots....so sadly...maddeningly...infuriatingly...my no storms club membership remains intact. BUMMER
  24. I agree with you...they'll be a lot more widespread, it'll just be us in the no storms club who wont get them :winky:
  25. Heavy shower just passed through here BUT......surprise surprise...not one single rumble.
