  1. hi paul its very confusing for me just been looking at the map how to get der from dublin flight wise not sure what part ive to head to if ive to fly into portsmouth were do i go from der that seems to be the closet airport to get to gosport town, but also see stokes bay and that the oppisite side altogether :>(

    Hi Mick

either fly into southampton or gatwick then train from the airport to portmouth harbour then a 5 min ferry to gosport from outside the harbour station

go outside main station entrance and turn left down the gangway cost £2.80 return.

when on the gosport side leave the ferry terminal the bus station is on your left and the taxi rank is on the right the high st dead ahead if going to the campsite the bus you require is the no 4 or 34 and ask for the kingfisher caravan site same goes for the taxi

if going to straight to the BBQ ask for the carpark/ gosport diving museum at the browndown end of stokes bay no 88 bus stops there.

i hope this helps i will try to put up maps to help

  2. how far from the site is a supermarket ? A lot of people brought a lot of food with them and I am sure we will get things sorted. It might be an idea to have some freezing blocks.

    Tom

    hI Tom

the supermarkets are a 5 min drive i will some ice packs on standby if required and ice can be purchased from the local supemarkets and 80p a bag las time it purchased some last year.

ps i will post some maps up with local amenitys and directions just figuring how best to show them on the site so that they are clear?

  3. if it is any help people may start to arrive anytime around 1pm onwards

there will be two of us for certain I have booked a room at a hotel in Gosport for my wife and I but i might end up in a tent who knows ??

might need to go shopping once there because we might set off on Friday so any food might not keep.

    Tom

ok thanks Tom gives a better idea as i need to arrange delivery and collection of the bbq as not to tie my brother up too much

if it will help i have a small amount of spare fridge and freezer space if you require cool bag/box blocks freezing etc.

as i only live about a 30 min walk from the BBQ area.

  4. Hi Paul..I'm a definate maybe......was planning see what everyone was doing then bring snags, beer, salad and maybe cake ...that's all the main food groups covered?

  9. Situation looks good for convection near Ruidoso west of Roswell NM, possibly around Hondo NM at junction of US 70-380. Mountains rising to over 3,500 m (Sierra Blanca) often provide that extra bit of lift around there.

had my first chase around roswell the thing that sticks in my mind was the large hail and the cars with smashed windscreeens coming out of the storm.

the storm also had some incredible structure to it.

  10. Hi all

anyone still needing to flights wait till after the bank holidays as the price will come down a little more than what is showing at the moment

the one flight i have been looking at for anybody on a budget is lufthansa/ air canada via torronto sub £500(£470) times not too bad either but my budget will allow a sub £575 flight with ba if available in the next couple of weeks.

  11. From previous experience I had a gall bladder attack which put me in hospital

A week before going storm chasing I contacted the insurance company they said because it was an unplanned illness I was still covered as normal as the policy was already in force but I had to follow the surgeon’s and insurance co advise.

I think if it was a pre-declared condition and any changes should be declared there should be no problems but it is always best to check before travel

  12. Can I be uber girly and ask for recommendations on a B&B ?
