  1. Although further in the GFS run it starts to come good around 204 hours. 19th so a trend ? Fax charts are more favourable but as previous it all depends which charts you pick as no 2 are the same beyond a couple of days and before you know it we are all playing the same game and speculatively chasing outputs.

Edit Again : Just realised that my view only relates to snow lovers but as I haven't seen any warm mongers on this thread then no worries. :D

  2. A interesting and balanced point of view. Hope this is of interest and vague hope to some of you.

Interesting read Katie. Seems to have similarities with some of the "alternative" forecast outlooks.

Reading GP's take on things with the high pressure to the northeast moving/forming in the atlantic we could expect the cold to retrogress westwards bringing any lows dropping down from a northerly position into a more favourable position as per my previous post a few days back. Here's being optimistic B)

    So Wednesday the 15th onwards.

Model synoptics still seem all over the shop so whatever we see are only trends and any serious early "false" computer analysis can throw the whole caboodle out.

Just been for a trudge at work. Interesting to note we still have 3cm's of the lying stuff on the wide open snow fields near the radar dish whereas at the edges of the hedgerow and notably at home in the garden the melt has taken hold and we have green grass due to local relative heat from tree roots etc.

Still can now catch up on some shut eye for a few days.

    Keep em peeled. :)

Edit : The current GFS is having none of it with a flattened high. :D

  3. We have a pvr and hubby says we are digital anyway so it doesn't matter. He is looking up on the internet. Despite the fact there is a booklet on the table that came through the door months ago I left incase!!

Digital frequencies have moved slightly even with existing digital channels so boxes need to be retuned. All analogue spectrum now freed up so up for grabs if you want to start a rival mobile phone network. :D

  4. On an unrelated note - anyone elses bbc channels broke on freeview down here?

Do you mean permanently or just a temp glitch ?

If permanently then you need to retune as we switched over to all digital signal Tx the other day.

If temp glitch then have a trudge over the fields to Arqiva and ask at the gate. Snow permitting. :winky:

  5. Just so you know if anybody starts to annoy you, including myself :p There is a report buton that one can use which will alert other Moderators within these forums. :good:

For now, please keep sending in the weather reports and talk of other related events. As for the topic of drinking alcohol, please make mine a snowball. ;)

    Excellent stuff Mark.

GTLTW this is the best I can do.

  6. It does look a nicer setup the further west you are. Unfortunately the curse of Southampton being in the middle of no where strikes again! We're never far enough east when it hits there, and we're never far enough west when it hits that side. Nightmare!

These sort of events are always a nightmare for us, Pompey and the IOW. We need a proper Chanel low being driven by an eastley wind to get any decent event.

Alledgedly as mentioned on other threads coming right up courtesy of jb and "alternative" uk weather media on the 15th .

One for RJS and BLAST if you get my drift B)
