Just incase anyone was wondering what Steve Murr's take on today so far is...
He hasn't posted on his twitter for 19hrs.
Says a lot really.
He'd touted 50cm.....

Just watching the forecast on BBC News and she said 25cm +. I think she’s missed out the decimal point in between those figures for my location. Even the snow on my car is starting to disappear.
Not 'between' the figures, the decimal should go before the two....

I think you need to differentiate between apps =symbolic data.. and an actual overall forecast... where the meat is in the reading... this hasn’t got going yet and some need to understand that!!!!!@definitive delay...
I admire your enthusiasm and unswerving confidence in this most vast of turds. Happy Polishing

Okay, I’ll bite.
Probably because it hasn’t missed us? There’s plenty of pictorial evidence to support this.
As for “record breaking snowfall”, has anyone actually predicted that? Apologies if they have and I have missed it but I do not recall seeing anyone predicting that.
There have been numerous figures touted. Anything up to 40cm.

That says possible snow depth. Does he say at what point it's expected to reach that depth?
They've got the scale wrong. It should be in micrometers....

Under a heavy pulse now and coming down quite thickly - even settling on roof... and yet roads and paths still resistant... Guess we just need a real spurt to get them settled.
Met office has removed some "heavy" snow for today (although 7 hrs still left supposedly), but still shows snow for most of tomorrow and 8 hours of "heavy" snow.
So decent convective activity definitely still anticipated. Worth waiting patiently if it hasn't happened for you yet. The snow will also only get colder and better.
It's all over the place isn't it? Bit of a joke in all honesty.

Who me, or the models? Model wise, if only it were that simple. It's all still happening, it's just delayed. It's only the weather.
I’m not having a pop at you. The models. It shows how complex the weather is and how tripe the modelling can be

The only way to avoid disappointment for you then is to delete any apps, rescind your membership here and look out the window. Go native.

I think everyone just needs a bit of patience, judging by the hi-res models you'll all be laughing by the end of tomorrow.
Time will tell!
Hi-res models....
hmmm, yes, trust those models...

Updated Met Office now has light snow (yeah, 1mm per day rate) down from Heavy for most the day from 2am this morning. Now it's shifted to heavy snow from tonight to more or less all day tomorrow.
Farcical...
And I see snow right down to coastal level in places. You can't make it up.

So people are talking about streamers at the moment, is this happening at the same time as the main storm Darcy or does it look like Darcy has stalled further East?
Please. Don't expect anything. Nothing so far has gone the way it was supposed to. You'll only get disappointed

Theres still probably enough left for a small further west motion, but not too much more from the looks of the radar.
Surrey said 10-11am based on the Euro4, that may well be the case for the absolute most westerly point, but I think that drift westwards will be slowing from now on.
Its kinda hard to explain how it looks but on radar its clear whats happening once you know where all the key players are and the direction.
The good news is thats what tou want to call it is the lower level flow is forced back more ENE later this evening which will force what convection forms in the wake of this frontal system westwards across the region.
So even if this band doesn't make it, there should be plenty of line convection to work with later on today.
Well, i'll hold my breath.Oh hang on, maybe not.....

Looking good, that snow isn;t stopping any time soon either!
System still pivoting around but its nearly angled N-S now which probably means the westerly push of the heavy stuff is nearly done.
Really? you think that's it? Jesus wept....

Morning everyone. Sleep well? Not looking very nice out there. Seems as if weather forecasts are a bit like a political party. Promise much but deliver little. Let us hope things come good eventually.
Haven’t ventured into the mod thread. I expect they haven’t noticed it’s not snowing as they are too busy getting excited about something that won’t happen in 7 - 10 days time.
Time for breakfast.
I popped in for a look. Look good on the fantasy charts. Getting excited over ice and snow over 300hrs away.... smdh

6.30am on Sunday and people are writing off an event that is set to last at least a week. Happens every time. People are desperate to have a moan, knock forecasters and write things off immediately.
Maybe but most of us are lay people. I couldn't begin to understand the complexities involved. Look at a few weeks back when we were due that big event from the South West. Good snowfall touted. What happened? It slid way in to Northern France hardly dropping a flake. Its been a crap year, don't blame people for being disappointed. Great if it happens but people are tired of it going tits up at the last moment, and it can so often go tits up. Instead of mocking people maybe practice little understanding and reassure them eh?
