What's tomorrow looking like. Chance of more snow in the SouthEast?...
-
What are the chances of further snowfall for the southeast tomorrow?? Heard over on the model thread that the low for tomorrow seems slightly further south... Could this guarantee further snowfall for kent?
-
Looks as though the NAE could have picked up a small streamer even for those in east Kent this eve...
-
Does the front actually stall over the southeast and then slide away to the south?Yes, if you have 12-18hrs of light-moderate snow then your going to get some pretty heavy and big accumulations.
Worth noting that the models weaken the front but re-energise it over the top of the SE...thats a trend well worth watching I feel.
-
Are the showers in the north sea likely to edge any nearer to the coast in the SE?
-
Doesn't look like Folkestone will do well out of todays shower activity ;(
-
Will the sun help to pep up the showers in East Kent today helping them to keep their intensity and not to die as fast as they reach land?
-
Is the windspeed expected to increase during the early hours?http://www.meteorada...z=7&x=525&y=475
Another good(ish) radar
They will do, no energy in land, colder and lack of wind strength to drive them in
-
Showers are seeming to die very fast as they move over costal areas
-
Showers getting much closer to the extreme SE coastline!

Chance of any heavy snow showers for wednesday in the South East?Hi all, it looks like we should see some persistant snow forming tonight/snow showers, just been looking through the charts, NAE and GFS both indicate snow across our region into the early hours of Tuesday, this time round it going to all be snow
Thickness 850/1000 hpa
the North Sea helping to brew up convective clouds enhancing heavy snowfall near the east coasts with some snow moving right across towards London for example.

I expect Kent to be in the firing line overnight for the heavy snowfall and up into Suffolk/Norfolk/Essex, although some less significant snow could affect further west into areas as far as the far West Sussex/London west.
Staying cold with snow showers and some snow events at times in the days ahead

Below is a link to the latest Met office FAX charts updated at & 7:30 this morning. Do these FAX charts show the initial surge of cold air further east or actually further west??
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/surface_pressure.html

Up to +72 on the ECM and it's looking less progressive but quite close wrt the HP cell and vortex tint with the UKMO. The GFS is a slight bit worse than both.
Could i have a link this this model please

If we were to have -5 uppers over the whole county for example during December then it would be highly likely that any precipitation would fall as snow/sleet. At this moment in time -5 uppers are shown to affect parts of the country in the next week or so, therefore I don't understand why people are doubting that any precipitation could well fall as snow and affect a large part of the UK??.... That's if what we are seeing at the moment on a range of forecasting models actually materializes.
Can anyone shine any light as to why this may be?? I'm still learning so be nice

Couple of tweets from some 'weather experts'.... il let you judge their credibility
From Joe laminate floori, "Much of Europe to turn cold for November too. N Hemisphere in for a wild winter this year. Global warming will turn to climate change".
From Matt Hugo, "Interesting update from the EUROSIP seasonal model combining the UKMO ECMWF & MeteoFrance which supports a blocked/potentially colder winter"

The cloud heights of our frontal system tonight are rising which would be indicative of it getting stronger, this would mean heavier rainfall. Systems being fed from the tropics are notoriously hard to forecast, the precip amounts on models may be underplaying the totals.
Are there any sat images which measure the cloud height and coolness ?

Now imagine is all this rain was snow!
