The 1987 storm was anything but a normal windy day, I was 13 at the time and remember watching the local school roof get blown off! couple that with many trees and fences blown down all over the place I would say it was exceptional. Oh and it gets a bit bloody blowy up here on the moor too! lol

I happened to be living in Plymouth in 1987
Thaw continues, although not that much snow has melted. Got up to about 4C here today but currently stands at 0C Foggy. Will be sorry to see the back of the regional threads, very friendly on the whole. Take care guys Jase
That's nothing fella, As I type there are mini diggers, plows, jcb,s and men with shovels clearing the main street and footpaths!!!!
Now if I can only get my car to the main road everything will be great.

Yes we have gas in this house, which seems like a luxury as our old house there was no gas.
Would like another cold spell at some point but could do with a warm up for a while, already feels so much milder today.
Agree that there is still plenty of snow but hate it when it goes wet and slushy.

It seems whenever we have wind from that direction it has difficulty igniting, when it does ignite it goes out after about 20 seconds and goes on like that. Jase
Well really enjoyed yesterday, but a thaw in well underway here with the snow seeming very wet. Temp is 3.2C which is the first time it has got above freezing in a while. now it's warmed up it Also seems my boiler has fixed itself! Jase
I think it's finally stopping here, great day of snow and that's two decent dumps for the week! Without sounding greedy if I could have a few more days like this over the rest of the winter I will be very happy indeed. Jase
Not up to febs levels but very good snow cover indeed(including previous snowcover) I thought it was meant to be warming up here now and turning to rain? It's got slightly colder, Temp -0.6C an still snowing. This will still turn to rain won't it? I need to be able to travel outside of the village. Jase
Hi Matt Well don't know about level snow because it's drifting but it is deep now, my 18 year old has just told me that the biggest drift he found was above his waist! What's it like down there? Jase
vopwiufigt pogipqkpgr wgopi;jp ggpof ro rjgpoq keifpoie goiqopirkfopei....... err sorry since the boiler broke and it's been freezing I have found out it is nearly impossible to type with mittens on! LOL Still snowing here and temp is -0.5C Jase
LOL no it's not that i am not satisfied but that sort of depth is nothing unusual up here. Still nice to see though and we had more in the last snowfall recently. Jase
Yep mate, happened to me the other day when it snowed. Lost it all for a couple of hours. Went on to tvcarchup.com and watched freeview online instead. Jase
