  1. The surfs been ace ey, Iv'e not seen the bay so full on Saturday. Got some good shots of the waves. A good old Northerly usually brings out the surfers! We have snizzle here at the moment! Temp 1.2C and dew point -1.4 but climbing rapidly. might get a dusting before it gets washed away by the rain coming later!
  2. I reckon we may get clipped by some of the showers tonight. Won't amount to much though. It's a shame they won't move west a smidge more because theres some real intensity in them!!
  3. I took this depth on our drive this morning in the car wheel tracks. Way more than I expected! Anyway it's been a dry, crisp day after the snow showers this morning. There didn't seem to be as much snow in town but still plenty! We now have half a street clear from the sun melt and the other half still has 3inches where it's been in the shade all day! I'll post some proper pics later. Temp dropping like a rock now the suns gone Max today 1.8C and now -2.1C
  4. WOW, Even better than expected! Still heavy showers blowing in (Not for long though!). We currently have 9cm's here In Osgodby. Theres also some quite impressive drifts. I'll add some pics later!
  5. Our turn at last ey!! About time! Still bucketing down here. I'll measure when it stops but lets just say the road has dissapeared and the street is just one level of snow now so there must be at least 3inches. Can't wait to see the totals. Camera day tomorrow me thinks!
  6. It started like that here in Osgodby at first with a dew point of -5.4C it was really powdery and blowing everywhere. really big flakes coming down now though as the dew point has risen to -3.3C. I reckon a good 5cm's covering will greet us in the morning, maybe more! !
  7. I second that, I'm in Scarborough too and it's whiteout! Coming down really heavy now. I'd say it started about half an hour ago and we have 2cm's already! It aint half blowing too!! temp has dropped from +0.4 to -1.3 since the snow arrived with Dew point of -3.6C and windchill of -9.5C! Brrrr.
  8. If the Meto's Invent rainfall predictor is reliable then we have the real heavy stuff hitting here around 9.00 and lasting through till 6am before a restbite with lighter showers tomorrow. Can anyone explain how the showers are to push west towards us with a NNW wind? It makes me a little dubious! If it were to happen though we should be looking at a good 5cm's at least. The showers have died off at the moment but thats not such a bad thing as the strong wind has dried the ground from earliers thawed snow and i guess that will help anything else settle. We shall see!
  9. Moderate snow showers since around 10am, following heavy rain/sleet showers this morning. temporary accumulations between showers, I think if they carry on with this frequency into tonight we could get some nice accumulations.
  10. Evening all! Iv'e been stuck at work the last couple of days and missed out on developments regarding the Northerly. I see now it's changed with mainly rain on Friday now. It's after the rain clears south that we appear to be in line for the showers. I see many posts on here and forecasts from Meto etc saying the West and east coasts will have snow showers Friday onwards, What I dont understand is how convective showers can effect eastern coasts with winds in the NW quadrant. I know it's basic but I would imagine the showers forming in the N sea but taking a SE track taking them toward the continent. I'm probably being really dense because Iv'e seen snow in these set ups here so I know it's possible! Can anyone impart wisdom and help my curiosity?
  11. Looking good for later this week. Beats this murk anyway! We always seem to do great here with a strong Northerly setup like the one thats forecast. It's one of the few setups that more or less brings guarunteed snow. I know from my little experience that a northerly blast is when we seem to get really good accumulations. I love the convective showers that blow in from the North sea with cold winter sun inbetween. Iv'e also seen a few good thunder snow events from this setup. Hopefully it won't downgrade!
  12. Another grim day! Cold and wet with intermittent rain and then sleet in the hevier bursts. Snow all but gone now! Might get a light dusting in the next couple of days. Anyway, heres a selection of pics I took during the cold snap you can see them all in my gallery.
