  1. Just got in from work, so what's happening? How are we for this eve/tonight? News 24 just now seemed to indicate heavy stuff over moors and into Wales later, with northern parts of the wider south west region getting patchy snow. Am i reading this right or just being pessimistic?

If i'm interpreting it right, much as Ian F predicted i think.

Light to moderate snow here for the last half an hour.

Pretty wet stuff. Not adding to the lying snow.

  2. To be honest i cant see any excitement now for Cornwall and Devon because by 6.00 am wednesday it will be raining. Even across the moors.

Somerset into N.Somerset will hold on just to the colder temps so sleet or snow (patchy) ....north of Bristol patchy snow tomorrow morning dying away.

Also the snow into Gloucester looks like dying away and patchy at 5.00am tomorrow. Seems to just get above Bristol then start to fizzle out.

  3. Once again i will say it. After the GFS at 3.30 a Massive Downgrade for snow potential for Gloucester.

I said this before Ians blog update, but again nobody listened.

Also a downgrade for North Somerset (my area) Bristol etc.

    Kept saying this.

BIG BIG BUT...this evolution is great in my opinion for increases the chances of cold holding out until a re-load next week.

LP's diving in France...perfect..........This means the BLOCK IS TRYING TO HOLD OUT.

Just shows how strong this block could possibly be.

  4. i watched bbc news 24 at around 6pm, a reporter (cant remmember name) stood at top of gloucester (assume at birdlip) saying major snow fall hitting gloucestershire this time tomorrow 6pm tues, people already panic buying ready for major snowfall.

better stock up on milk and bread thenwacko.gif

If you watch the forecast snow dosent reach you until 3.00am, then it starts to die away and fizzle out.

We will just have to watch that radar.

This time tomorrow no snow over Gloucester.

Early today it was forecast to hit Bristol at rush hour...not any more.

    Early hours for Bristol too.

  5. EXACTLY..SPOT ON!!!!

I watched the forecast..I wont say who he was, but the forecast was heavy rain after some snow maybe..

They where so confident of this S/W Lp was going to kill the cold.

We all was convinced that Glos wouldnt get the snow or Southern part's

Didnt bother staying up that night as we expected rain.

Instead I woke up to an amazing site of blizzard's and high wind's with power cut's due to the snow sticking to the pylon's.

    Awesome experience as a kid...

Very simialr set up as today...

Watched these BBC charts now since 1972 AS A SMALL KID.

We do have a great potentail from this,The event in 1981 or 82 did eventually turn to drizzle.

But after dumping so much snow and high drift's.

Dursley recieved 15" if I remember correct( while Chelt had 1ft..

very simialr to this event as the LOw struggled to push East.

Date's might not be 100%..when I was young I didnt keep a record...

Guess it was 18th of January but not sure..

We had a few of these James..If your father can remember.

I have said through out these weeks that Channel low's or South Westerly's are the one's to watch for.

Not the Beast from the East for The South West.

Nowcast memories are sometime's the best

Have you seen the latest PPN for your area?
