  1. Some of you might hate me, but I hate wet snow as Ian has mentioned in his blog.

This is why i was so disspointed with Sundays forecast cock up. That day was supposed to be powder snow (something rare here) and strong easterly winds blowing it around.

Think the strong wind (hopefully) will make things stick rather than blow around.

I know im fussy, but i base all my snow events on Feb 91, something IMBY not beaten.

wow......... 12hours constant heavy snow............ i have an exam on thursday ohmy.gif

Plenty of rain for Cornwall, Devon. Snow further NE, rain around all coasts north Devon, South Coast.

    This is a marginal event.

Not sure if the heavy PPN to reach Gloucester.

I would prefer the whole lot to miss and head into northern France and give us more chance of prolonging the cold spell.

I know where i live there is a good chance of snow, but i hate wet snow that dosent stick and gets washed away as it turns to rain.

  3. well the netweather forecast gives me lots and lots of rain for tommorow, whether itll turn too snow or not is a different matter. i remember back last february when it was like this and they were forecasting rain before it snowed, was actually quite funny because we were watching ITV news when bulletins came up about people being stuck on haldon hill with heavy snow and straight after the bulletin the weather came on and put a real emphasis on heavy rain lol

Cant see snow on the south coast, just cant. Light rain and drizzle I think.

  4. Just seen the BBC news24 forecast at 16:57. Seems like Tuesday remains interesting for some parts of our region, but by Wednesday the milder air has swept thru' the south west and the Midlands becomes the battleground.

So for those on the other threads saying a slow breakdown, looking at latest forecasts it won't be that slow. I, for one, can't stand long drawn out thaws - it all gets too messy out here in the suburbs with dirty slushy snow become the norm.

I think i'm ready for a 2nd half of the week mild temps (suspect it'll be 'less cold' rather than mild) to get rid of what will quickly become slush. Then i'd like to see a re-load come a week or so from here. Met Office already saying thru' the Beeb we're in a much less cold sector today, so major downgrade from their predictions that were being banded around the last couple of days for today.

It should also be said that there were a number of, what i considered to be the more learned contributors on NW, also saying we were in for a major snowy period today - i think the sayings like "the south east will close down!" were being relayed thru' NW a couple of days ago.

Can anyone explain to me what actually happend last night into early hours of today for the METO to get it so wrong?

  5. Amazing BBC forecast!

    Complete turn around on everything...

    Higher temps...

    Rain around coasts..

    Hardly any snow...

    Night temps much higher...

Last night all the above were oposite!

And once again completer confusion, arguements, and disagrement in the model output thread!

best stuff just keeps missing south bristol by yards . wallbash.gifrolleyes.gif

Im underneath it on the radar..very very light.

  6. Well, that was a fun trip to town... not. Still, least most of the idiots coming on to the Moors went the other way and didn't block our way down... that said if the guy touched his brakes once on the ice he touched them a thousand times, so not a big suprise he over ran the corner rolleyes.gif

Anyway, I'm sticking to Sky News, for various reasons but the main one being they show snow for the extreme SW tomorrow. (and indeed tonight so 12 hrs of snow)

    -4c in the car. Balmy.

welcome back Mullender, how were the ski conditions?

Why you sticking with Sky news? What reasons? Is it because they show snow for your area and the BBC dont? rolleyes.gif
