The 12Z NAE keeps totals generally lower, 5-10cm's for most areas, 25cms across south Devon, struggling to get as far NE as Gloucestershire, but maybe a few cms here.
Bristol right on the edge maybe 5-8cms.
It will no doubt change on it's next run though.
Agree. Cant see Gloucester getting much.

Some of you might hate me, but I hate wet snow as Ian has mentioned in his blog.
This is why i was so disspointed with Sundays forecast cock up. That day was supposed to be powder snow (something rare here) and strong easterly winds blowing it around.
Think the strong wind (hopefully) will make things stick rather than blow around.
I know im fussy, but i base all my snow events on Feb 91, something IMBY not beaten.
-
Just seen Richards BBC online forcast for Bristol, quite widespread snow. Starting off around 14.00 for Bristol and intensifying into the night through wednesday morning.
Hope they dont get this wrong!
I really really hope the wind picks up as forecast.
-
wow......... 12hours constant heavy snow............ i have an exam on thursday
Plenty of rain for Cornwall, Devon. Snow further NE, rain around all coasts north Devon, South Coast.
This is a marginal event.
Not sure if the heavy PPN to reach Gloucester.
I would prefer the whole lot to miss and head into northern France and give us more chance of prolonging the cold spell.
I know where i live there is a good chance of snow, but i hate wet snow that dosent stick and gets washed away as it turns to rain.
-
well the netweather forecast gives me lots and lots of rain for tommorow, whether itll turn too snow or not is a different matter. i remember back last february when it was like this and they were forecasting rain before it snowed, was actually quite funny because we were watching ITV news when bulletins came up about people being stuck on haldon hill with heavy snow and straight after the bulletin the weather came on and put a real emphasis on heavy rain lol
Cant see snow on the south coast, just cant. Light rain and drizzle I think.
-
Anyone noticed how dead it is in the model output thread because this is a SW event.
I can see lots of rain over cornwall and parts of Devon (except high ground) and snow into somerset as it pushes N/NE and hopefully stalling.
-
Morning guys and girls.
BBC forecast going for snow for the SW tuesday.
-
Here's the graphics from the Beeb.
Please please do me and us a here a favour and keep those pics and post them again tuesday and wednesday.....lets see if it is as WHITE! Hope so.

Lots of optimism in the Model Output thread with the latest ECM. Cold not really going anywhere, just a slightly milder interlude.
"Interlude" being the word.
-
Just seen the BBC news24 forecast at 16:57. Seems like Tuesday remains interesting for some parts of our region, but by Wednesday the milder air has swept thru' the south west and the Midlands becomes the battleground.
So for those on the other threads saying a slow breakdown, looking at latest forecasts it won't be that slow. I, for one, can't stand long drawn out thaws - it all gets too messy out here in the suburbs with dirty slushy snow become the norm.
I think i'm ready for a 2nd half of the week mild temps (suspect it'll be 'less cold' rather than mild) to get rid of what will quickly become slush. Then i'd like to see a re-load come a week or so from here. Met Office already saying thru' the Beeb we're in a much less cold sector today, so major downgrade from their predictions that were being banded around the last couple of days for today.
It should also be said that there were a number of, what i considered to be the more learned contributors on NW, also saying we were in for a major snowy period today - i think the sayings like "the south east will close down!" were being relayed thru' NW a couple of days ago.
Can anyone explain to me what actually happend last night into early hours of today for the METO to get it so wrong?
-
Been out all day so not a clue whats going on with the models today etc.
But all can i say for is THAW! Sudden thaw today, quite out of the blue really....
Can anyone explain to me what happend last night weather wise?
-
Thaw started. Roof dripping.
Complete let down today.
Wasnt expecting much snow..but was expecting a strong E wind and cold temps.
-
Is ICEBURG about for an update?
Im coming back later when some more model output has come out.
Last night the models were showing a continuation of the cold now a different output again.
-
Amazing BBC forecast!
Complete turn around on everything...
Higher temps...
Rain around coasts..
Hardly any snow...
Night temps much higher...
Last night all the above were oposite!
And once again completer confusion, arguements, and disagrement in the model output thread!
best stuff just keeps missing south bristol by yards .
Im underneath it on the radar..very very light.
-
Well well.....
Hardly any snow about the country on the radar
and no wind.
Good forecast last night!
-
I just saw bbc and it looked crap for bristol
Your right. F all.
Thought it was all going north.
-
Thanks for the link.
Not much PPN on that for the west, all goes north up the centre of the country.
-
Anyone got a link to the latest NAE
-
Well, that was a fun trip to town... not. Still, least most of the idiots coming on to the Moors went the other way and didn't block our way down... that said if the guy touched his brakes once on the ice he touched them a thousand times, so not a big suprise he over ran the corner
Anyway, I'm sticking to Sky News, for various reasons but the main one being they show snow for the extreme SW tomorrow. (and indeed tonight so 12 hrs of snow)
-4c in the car. Balmy.
welcome back Mullender, how were the ski conditions?
Why you sticking with Sky news? What reasons? Is it because they show snow for your area and the BBC dont?
-
Wow
Heavy snow expected tonight and tomorrow we can expect a repeat of tuesday night/wed morning event.Could get as much as 20-40cm with drifting from the strong easterly wind

Can anyone help me with the above? Where did this come from? Has GFS done a massive turn around in PPN????
-

Cant see much but the odd flurry tomorrow.
Then by 19.00 nothing, thought it was going to last into Monday?
Maybe they havent a clue???
As for next week dont think anyone has a clue.
Temps tomorrow i reckon on the coast will reach 3 degrees.

Think the general idea it will stall further south from your location and push away E/SE.
And there is warning out for your area until Wednesday.
