    Here we go guys!!!!! The time is nearly upon us for (as Derek described) the greatest snow event in Wales since 2010!!! So whose gna pull an all nighter/ or getting up extra early? Plenty of hot chocolates for me I think

    Looks pretty good for tomorrow guys, large parts of Wales should see at least a few hours of falling snow.

    BBC points west forecast showed snow over south east Wales for most of Friday, while the BBC Wales one was more rainy :S i.e. still very low confidence on the boundary.

    The prelude to the main band is unlikely to amount to very much except over hills.

    Don't take the BBC graphics too literally, even in December 2010 I remember them showing rain when it turned out to be snow.

    BBC online 5 day forecast for Cardiff has a heavy snow symbol for Friday and light snow symbol for Saturday, savour the moment!

    May be a case of getting up early on Friday to see the snow before it turns to rain.

    People (in model thread) have been saying that the models may be underestimating the strength of the block and the fronts could stall... Usually, I've only ever seen the Atlantic win ( either fast or slow), but has anyone who is older than me remember otherwise?

    I agree. He's probably a coldie at heart but doesn't want to delve into it too much because we live in one of the most difficult countries in the world to forecast snow.

    Let's hope GFS is being too progressive. Yes you're right, I didn't know there was precipitation forecast on Thursday!

    GFS moving the snow away from Wales... I've a feeling this will be downgraded to a rain event for most of Wales.

    Snowing in roath/cathays Tis wet snow but to be honest I don't mind when the flakes are big.

    I don't like the look of the wind direction on Friday, looks more southerly than south easterly

    It will probably get downgraded soon. Recently, downgrades seem to have been happening in morning runs, so maybe tomorrow or Wednesday morning. Hope not though.
