1. Thundery wintry showers - Hi TWS I dont know if you remember but back in the northern england thread a few weeks back, you stated and predicted that we would end up in no-mans land for the fore-seeable future and thats how its ended up here, please next time you predict something please predict some interesting weather lol I'm pretty much go along the lines other users have gone, cold crispy frosty night's followed by sunny days with scattered snow showers, throughout febuary, getting warmer in march, leading up to a nice spring/summer. I wouldnt even mind a mild febuary/March either to be honest, just please get rid of this depressing rubbish weather we have at the minute.
2. Well the weather here for the past two weeks has been very dull and grey, damp and on the chilly side but not cold enough for anything to happen. Reading between the lines on the model dicussions seems plenty is brewing but not alot happening, I'm not holding out much hope. I've had enough of this hence the reason I'm looking forward to spring maybe seeing some early storms leading into a decent summer this year. whats other peoples thoughts regarding spring/summer?
3. did anyone see the bbc 9:30 weather forecast then, the model showed high pressure come into the south east and calm sunday down, then come Monday the temps across the country will drop again, as the atlantic trys to sweep across the country it showed the uk map for a split second with snow falling, then It seemed to come to an abrupt end and he admitted forecasting the weather next week is going to be nearly impossible Thats the strangest forecast I've seen on bbc1.
4. Well in that case I'd just like to take my ''thanks to you all'' back..........and get the next round in :drinks:lol so will we be seeing this beast from the east? seems to be looking more likely reading between the lines in the model discussion thread and have you seen the temp in the north sea dipping away?
5. Well guys if this is the last night for our regional thread, I'd just like to says thanks for an interesting insight to our local weather and how its effected our areas over the last month. With me been a newbie in terms of models and weather systems, I've taken alot in and learned quite abit to be honest. Anyway I still have a gut feeling the main event is yet to arrive so I live in hope lol thanks again dave
6. Hi alza I thought it was 91, just couldn't remember the year, been steady drizzle here tonight, pretty cold though, i'm looking forawrd to febuary or even the back end of this month, still got a gut feeling the main event is yet to come ( I hope lol )
7. its just my location thats all, if i drive 10 minutes up the road to guisbouorgh which is the other side of the hills, they have had the snow since the first spell back in mid december and an awful lot of it, I also think someone brought a valid point up a couple of weeks back about me being so close to the steel works and its effect on the climate around us.
8. I'm saying that event we got in feb 92 was alot worse than what we got from this current spell, you may have a lot of snow cover and seen plenty of snow showers over the 27 days, we only ever really seen 3 days of heavy snow and as soon as came it went by the sunday/monday, we never really seen the really really cold nights that were reported further up the north east and around the country, we got a fair few sleety showers when other areas where getting snow, so overall yes it was a decent spell but not as bad as previous events.
9. Hey snowman, that feb 92 event i mentioned, I've got a feeling we might see something along them lines this Febuary, the winter in 92 had a few snowy days before the main event came along, so there's hope yet
10. for me here on Teesside, i'll remember the two days (thurs and fri ) that give us 1 foot of snow and some of the best snow showers i've seen but this spell does not beat feb 92 in terms of the amount of freezing cold nights and the continues week of snow we had. We only really had the heavy snow in this spell thursday, friday and saturday by sunday it had thawed pretty badly.
11. temp 4 degrees dew point 0 wind 42 kmph east north east I'm in shock, I did not think this much snow could melt away in the space of a day, especially in january and especially with the winds coming in from the east, I expected a slow thaw over the week but this is really something else.
12. temp here is 4 degree dew point is -1 Humidity 70% pressure 1,025.06 mb wind From East North East at 35 kmph the wind is drying the melted snow on the roof's and pavements fast, looks quite good with with mountains of snow all over the place that people have cleared, looks like we've just come out of a mini ice age lol
13. cheers TWS, its been a cracking winter so far so I expect a mild spell for a while now, lets hope we can get another good spell of snowy weather before the season is out, plus March nearly always delivers for snowy events.
14. yes you did say this last night TWS, I know its a very long way off TWS but what are your thoughts regarding Febuary this year, once the north sea is alot cooler, bringing in alot more cold, is this likely to happen being its a strange winter or are we looking at a mild febuary like some users are suggestion in the general disscustion thread thanks dave
15.

here have a look at this site, updates every hour. http://uk.weather.com/weather/today-Middlesbrough-UKXX0093
16. whats everyone's temperature at? 3 degrees here
17.

morning guys, yep unreal thaw going on here, wont be nothing left by the end of tomorow if this keeps up, dissapointing I must admit, there was no big freeze after the snow events to keep it going for the week, so far that reason this spell for me does not beat the event of 1992!!!
18. Hi TWS - Thanks for that, I'm not sure what to make of it to be honest with you ( I'm sort of thinking what your saying and I think thats what will happen ) but on the other hand you did say the other day that you didn't expect us to get the pasting we got Thursday and Friday, so I suppose its just a case of waiting to see what happens.
19. Karl thats the best forecast I've read regarding today's possibilities, I'll hold you to that lol
20. thats true Snowstorm, I'm still in the very marginal zone bracket, I just dont like these temp rises along the coastline and unless the met and bbc are hiding sometrhing from us, i still think it will be sleety showers that hit us. whats the dewpoint currently at does someone know?
21. hope you get your snow event snowmackam, are we ( middlesbrough )still looking at sleet on the coast or more persistant snow?
22. which of the winter months was that in PIT?
23. I hope your right snowman, but just my opinion as it stands i'm going for sleety showers to hit us, I've read comments from users on here who seem well judged in forecasting the weather and they are saying it will be warming up at the coasts from now on in, there are also users in other local threads who are on the coast who are also saying its warming up along their coast line also, so its going to be very marginal snowman but dont get me wrong I hope your right
24. think of the worst then you wont be dissapointed, I've had a look on the bbc local forecast and has no symbols for snow, only light snow tomorow, have you seen the temps for next week, 3's and 4's so I think again it will be hit or miss for us. temp has dropped again here slightly.
