  1. Wonderful to have another day of maximum sunshine! Ground is frozen rock solid and washing drying easily. More please! Oh, yea !
  2. This day last January I posted the first photo. The second was taken today! Never seen it happen until last year! The perfect combination of flooding rain followed by a freeze. This year I haven’t seen anyone skating on it but others have.
  3. Absolute crackerjack of a day! So much focus on the LOW to the South, however I wonder if the weak cold front from the North tomorrow morning may bring some unexpected flurries instead!?
  4. Surely that’s because it fancies snow cover beforehand. Without snow cover it’ll be more like 3c max and -5c min under a sunny/clear sky. Lovely day today.
  5. Which cold are people looking for to reach the UK!? It’s cold now! Always hunting for narnia!
  6. What we haven’t had for numerous years is a N/NW’ly wintry shower set up in November or December bringing graupel, soft hail and everything else. Another brief heavier shower has added to our earlier dusting then frozen over, so at least there should be white to enjoy looking at in the morning.
  7. So dry winter air finally turned up from around midday yesterday. Just hung bedding on the line, the grass is crunchy and ground finally drying out!
  8. Yes it’s chaos locally, not as bad as last night but plenty of issues! Of course some of it has ‘absolutely nothing to do with new housing on floodplain fields next to rivers’ !!!!!!!!
  9. I hadn’t realised this, not checked the temperature since we went for a walk at 9am. 3c to 4c lower would have been interesting!
  10. Arguably the heaviest rain of this ridiculously wet period is happening right now. Blowing onto the East facing windows too so a tight Southerly tracking LOW too.
  11. Yes it’s clearing beautifully now, so hopefully a fine afternoon to come, but we have just emptied 37mm out of my gauge from the last 48 hours !!
