  1. Yes very encouraging mid level instability this morning with plenty of virga and altcas.
  2. Much hazier this morning and quite disturbed looking mid level sky with virga and altcas.
  3. I'd say today has the potential to be the hottest day since 1st July 2015. We had 33.1c in July last year but it is already 24.2c before 09.00 with 7 odd hours until the hottest part of the day.
  4. We have heard rustling in the hedge all day and seen a female blackbird going in and out. This evening we have watched this beautiful fledgling find his wings!
  5. Wonderful summer view 2 minutes walk from my wife's school near Salisbury. Not hot, not humid, just sunny, pleasantly warm and with a gentle breeze.
  6. That must rank as one of the weakest fronts ever! Temperature before the low cloud rolled in at about 09.30 was 19.6c, it's dropped back to 17.9c and is increasingly sunny again .
  7. One shower in an approximately 250 square mile area and it comes right over my garden where I am playing outside with my boy!!!
  8. Thank goodness we're at the longest sun time of year which has allowed for a lovely evening after a surprisingly overcast drizzly / showery day. Technically I think this area was stuck under a front all day which has only edged East (and intensified) this evening allowing clearer skies in ahead of the active cold front.
  9. The wind gusts are ridiculous here, obviously heightened by trees being fully leafed. 26mm in my gauge this morning but lo and behold a dry day with sunny spells so far!
  10. Knocker, if you're reading, I miss your reports of current conditions in my favourite county. Raining already!
  11. There is discrete mid level convection here, approximately 100 miles ahead of the front, so that is promising for further east.
  12. From what I can gather looking at forecasts the cold front will bring a spell of rain very slowly West to East which will weaken considerably by the time it reaches the middle third of the country (particularly from the Midlands Southwards). Some places may see no rain at all, just a spell of low cloud, before the front then reaches the hot/humid South East region where it will reinvigorate including thundery activity.
  13. Stunning evening sat in the garden under clear sky with wispy pale pink Cirrus and a half moon, 18.2c after 22.0c max.
  14. That's ok, this thread dated 1st June onwards has been started on 31st May lol. Those of us in CS England need to hope the Cold Front gets held as far West as possible on Friday, otherwise a very warm/humid morning will just become a dull, wet afternoon.
  15. I thought what I witnessed from 03.00 - 03.30 was epic but it pales into insignificance compared to that! What's the greyness lurking behind the tree after the 2 minute mark, probably just scud but very suspiciously funnel like.
  16. Rather an odd day as there must have been (and probably continue to be) some impressive CBs judging by the downpour intensity experienced at home this morning at near Salisbury this afternoon, plus what the radar has been showing throughout. However there has been so much mist and low cloud that only very brief brighter spells have revealed visibility of the odd anvil.
  17. Not bothered about the lack of thundery activity, Friday night was sufficient. A good half inch of rain to water the garden ahead of a mostly dry week.
  18. Doesn't mean you won't 'see' anything though. Friday night's lightning was visible up to 100 miles away due to them being elevated storms and the light show was awesome. Chris K ; expect further developments (rapidly once they begin) from what is already present and even moreso once the plume air reaches the South coast as happened Friday night. Tom Dewey ; calm down! Be patient. It's a rare situation out in our home town right now, extremely still and humid.
  19. Patience people, late evening into the night, chance of a rerun of Friday night with another unstable plume bringing elevated storms. The radar now is irrelevant to later on. Things will develop rapidly once the plume arrives as happened Friday.
  20. Perhaps by 4 to 5pm, better chance is a repeat of Friday night at some stage late evening into tonight.
  21. Beautiful hazily sunny morning, the high cloud foretelling of what is to come later. 15.7c at the moment. Looks potentially very exciting for large parts of the region from about 14.00 for at least 12 hours! The action coming in 2 bursts with a less active evening in between. Although I do have a feeling that we could be a breeding ground for tonight's storms which will be worse (better!!) further North.
