  1. We've had all the low cloud thanks to after effects of the storms plus the Cold Front which did very little down this way - our storms were from a trough just ahead of the cold front, also fresher air overriding hot/damp ground - kind of like in winter when mild air overrides cold low level conditions causing fog. Interestingly the cold front has ignited further north. Much sunnier here now and quickly above 20c was 17c half an hour ago. Let's enjoy a lovely 24 hours and aim/hope for more fun tomorrow afternoon into the night.
  2. New little embedded intense cell has popped up SW of here. Good job I renewed my radar subscription yesterday! Getting sporadic lightning from that now and can see very disturbed mid level cloud in the early dawn light.
  3. AJ was right it has died off to some extent. That is clear from radar and naked eye. So I am glad I got to see it approach with the non stop lightning. Still some awesome lightning but less frequent.
  4. Insane, mesmerising, awesome , beautiful, wow! Anvil crawlers too.
  5. Watching this is mesmerising! And radar shows the area expanding which suggests why I can see lightning further away as well as along the leading edge.
  6. This is insane! Stood watching awesome strobe lightning continually pulsing along a massive line of lit up CB with stars shining overhead . Can just about hear thunder so expect it to get louder.
  7. Could be a spectacular end to the night for parts of the region, Ian Fergusson spoke of frequent lightning. The lightning may be more widespread than rain from previous experience but hopefully things kick off before 5am to allow for maximum viewing before daylight. I think it will be one of those situations where thundery activity breaks out once the associated unstable air makes landfall rather than it starting over the English Channel.
  8. Looking like an early morning Mother Nature wake up call could be on the cards for some of this region on Saturday. It's reminding me a little of 13th September last year when elevated storms ran NNW along a trough which slowly edged across the area between about 5am to early afternoon.
  9. This is following the trend of last year when the hottest days were windy from the SE. 26.1c and rising.
  10. First 25c day since September with lots of sunshine and scattered cumulus after a dull, misty start.
  11. Pushing 18c just after 09.00, first 23c of the year must be likely given continued strong, albeit hazy, sunshine.
  12. That in a nutshell shows the complete fallacy of getting hung up on model runs anything other than 5 or 6 days ahead. At less than a week ahead that forecast chart is horrendously inaccurate! So with that in mind, next Sunday is as far away on today's runs!
  13. Not if it is thundery! Still that's 7 days away, so including today we have a week of 19c to 25c maxima and lots of very warm sunshine to enjoy first.
  14. I wish you lot would share more than just your anvil which has reduced my garden to milky sun!! Damn impressive anvil though!
  15. Sky looks fantastic S/SE/SW of here while overhead it's beautiful and me and the boy are playing outside. Just had our first grass eating occurrence lol.
  16. Fantastic photos guys, here's my view to the NW. Extreme contrast from dark black to bright pink to pale blue.
  17. Proper soaking day, 26mm from 06.00 until now which will end up being the wettest 24 hour period since 21st-22nd November. The temperature has been steadily dropping too, from 15.4c max at around 07.00 to 10.8c now .
  18. What happens with the developing LOW and waving fronts tomorrow will greatly impact Thursday across our region. The further West developments occur will mean a slower clearance (if at all) by Thursday morning. I would not be surprised if there is still a lot of frontal cloud lingering in the Eastern half of our region on Thursday which will impact on what otherwise could be a fascinating convective day.
  19. A narrow area from Weston Super Mare SE towards Wincanton has had between 1 to 2 inches of rain today. If you look at the radar from around 03.30 - 10.30 then again from 16.00 until now there has been particularly heavy rain in that strip of the region, continually pulsing NW-SE. I can only think it is orographic enhancement as the fronts come up against the Mendip area.
  20. Home growns underway, between Frome-Midsomer Norton and around Yeovil/Taunton.
  21. Lively storm over the Channel Islands, will probably head NNW but will it survive!! Such a change in feel, even warm days this Spring have been fresh, until today.
  22. This will be the year of El Warmo! Last year we had 4 excellent daytime storms which had they occurred overnight would have been spectacular. I'm hoping Mother Nature has adjusted her clock by 12 hours!
