Lovely photos John. Not sure where rain is coming from today, at present it's still dry and bright/sunny and the only rain, well drizzle really, is over the Devon/Cornwall moors. -
2 potentially very interesting setup (Saturday and today) have provided 2 boring cold days of rain (some sleet Saturday) with today being 13 hours and counting of persistent light/moderate rain.

I can see Cley Hill from my upstairs windows Tim, fully expecting Thursday to be the first time in about 3 years that it's been white up there! However when I lived in Westbury I had a great vista of the Western edge of Salisbury Plain and that very often had a clear snow line.

That's what we managed in mid January too lol. Last night's -4.1c min was the 2nd lowest of the winter. A little more cloud around today, just scattered Cumulus though and plenty of bright sunshine. Also the very first frontal cloud is edging in from the West, I've a feeling this front is going to be very problematic - in many ways.

Anything of note on Mendip Nights King/Jethro? 2.8c with continuing sleety rain here, it became plain old rain between 10.00-15.00 but has reverted since the temperature has dropped. The amount of precipitation seems far more widespread and intense than forecast even this morning, oh if only it has been a few degrees colder!

Sleet here too, probably the most frustrating precipitation type, 2.7c and has fallen half a degree since a few hours ago.

Squeezed a wintry precipitation day out of this set up thanks to leaving home at 06.45 and it definitely sleeting from an isolated shower in an otherwise clear sky, surprisingly it was slightly frosty and 1.1c at that time too so it must have been clear for much of the night.

Really surprised they would put an early warning out for 7 to 8 days ahead when Sunday's Countryfile forecast only ever goes up to the Friday (6 days) now. Perfect day and the best for a long time due to no threat of showers ; hard frost, bright blue sky, long sunny periods, good convective Cumulus this afternoon and calm throughout.

Wonders will never cease, a minute of wet snowflakes at the end of a blustery, gusty sleety shower.

Glad there has been a flurry up on the Mendips. Just remember that should those showers over Wales be heading our way they're pretty likely to largely die out as per last Wednesday morning and many many times previously. Rare situation this winter, the temperature has dropped through the afternoon despite sunshine.

Lol and so the snow hopes begin to rise again to most likely be shattered amongst wailing and gnashing of teeth! The most impressive feature of Imogen is how rapidly the showers are moving, days like this make the NW Radar a must have for me.

We went to Bath earlier and it was flowing VERY fast/high in the city centre as yesterday's deluge works through the river system. What about in BoA itself? Must be extremely close?

41mm in 24 hours since it started raining yesterday mid-late evening and it's just stopping now, there was a drier phase from 09.00-12.00 today when the front seemed to buckle back Westwards for several hours. Regarding wintry chances on Tuesday, it reminds me of a set up from a few years ago on a Thursday in February when it suddenly turned cooler but still very unsettled allowing frequent showers to become wintry.

For what has seemed an unsettled last 10 days there's only been 15mm of rain here in that time, we could see double that tomorrow.

It's always 'next week' though this winter isn't it and any small nearer range possibilities (eg this morning, the Monday a few weeks ago) just fizzle out or provide cold drizzle. Meanwhile we have 2 more days well into double figures to come courtesy of another large warm sector after this latest mini chilly snap which brought the odd wintry shower, a slight frost, a cold wind but still maxima above average here!

Countryfile although only 48 hours ago would have been completely irrelevant, it showed dry all tonight and tomorrow yet we have 2 showery fronts moving through instead!

It was very showery where I was working (Rode, between Trowbridge and Frome) until 10.00 with some heavy bursts mixed in, perhaps moreso than suggested on forecasts yesterday. Much better since then with sunshine and the odd blustery light shower, 8.4c and falling.

Warm sector again! Stratocumulus, brief sunny spells, equally brief drizzly outbreaks, 12.9c, gusty wind.

Ridiculous squall line around 01.00 embedded within the frontal system, the kind of 10 minutes that you wish happened in daylight so you can see what's happening as well as hearing it. All calm this morning, stars and moon shining, radar suggests a few showers nearby, 6.6c .

Yes John a glorious day. Amusing in a way that the coldest day of this week (which followed the first frost for a week) was actually very Springlike.

Amusingly BBC are doing 'Winterwatch' this week! I got very lucky with working outside this morning as I managed to time things in the drizzly drier slot between the rain bands, 17mm emptied from my gauge an hour ago and the monthly mm is now beginning to increase further under a downpour. Only 12.3c lol.

Yes. Possibly a 'drier' hour or 2 first thing but squally wind and showery rain for much of the day. Thursday looks beautiful, frosty/icy start and a sunny day.

The 2nd half has been colder so far, even though it has turned milder again since Friday the first week of the 2nd half was considerably colder. Interesting rain shadow effect from Burnham On Sea towards Glastonbury is very evident on the Net Weather rainfall accumulation for the last 6 hours.
