Had a similar issue, wife puts out the washing then asks me if it's going to rain to which I replied "showers". Next thing you know up pops what was a small passing shower that grew in size and hung around for a good 25mins in total. Sheets were wringing wet, so guess who had the privilege to bring them in, spin them and stick them back out again?
Thankfully things died out and it is indeed glorious.

It’s times like this I detest weather. Today has been showing as a dry day on everything all week. It was showing as a dry day when I got up an hour ago.
So 3 days of washing out on the line and airers. All set up to dry by tea time. We’re just about to head out to my son’s football and, as if by magic, a batch of showers has formed moving in from the SW!

Surprisingly pleasant/sunny here too, save for early rain and a recent shower.
Some convection in various directions.

All the activity just missing us currently, assume some will pop up in the channel? Radar looks completely saturated.
Nothing is really popping up in the channel either. Showers keep developing just inland and running North in linear fashion like on this latest radar grab.
I expect more lines to start forming around the Beaminster/Bere Regis/Wimborne areas soon.

Beautiful sunny and windy day. When will I next get washing dry outside in less than 2 hours!?!?

While I do enjoy these dry & sunny days, the sun's lost enough of its power now to be of little use, so bring on the proper autumn deluge shown in the models!
Err those of us who work outside will think differently! I would have loved today’s conditions to continue! Also it’s very useful for drying washing in less than 2 hours!

What has happened to the forecast from Wednesday onwards!?

Unexpected and reasonably fun shower with hailstones on the Western side of Warminster.
Darn glad I got my dry washing in on the Eastern side of town before we left home!

Definitely dropping, down to 15.7c now from 18.1c just over an hour ago.

Normally this kind of frontal situation wouldn’t bother me approaching 17.00 on a Friday.
Today the timing of its’ arrival could not be worse due to my boy insisting on attending a stupidly early Halloween disco at school!

Pretty sure I wasn’t expecting merely 12.1c at midday! Also it’s absolutely vile, dull and drizzling!

I think I am about to hang washing out at just after 7am for the last time this year because it will either be too wet or too cold/dewy at this time from tomorrow onwards.
Very balmy this morning! Dawn reveals Stratocumulus with a few clear breaks.

Low cloud and mist has turned up around sunrise for the 3rd time in 4 days. Wonder why it didn’t on Sunday!

Beautiful crescent moon this morning next to a very bright star which I guess is one of the planets.
The sky is crystal clear so hopefully it will stay that way rather than turn misty/low cloud like happened yesterday morning!

We’re sat in the shade as the heat trap patio is too much. Didn’t do this at all in the school summer holidays as it was too cloudy or wet!

The warmest October day for 5 years!
@offermanwas that rain in Frome this afternoon? I spent my time equally between Warminster and Westbury, noticed some mid level cloud in every direction but never imagined it was producing showers!

The warmest October day for 5 years IMBY! Extremely notable, even moreso when considering it could be likewise for 4 more days!

(Probably) the last grass cut of the year just completed under a mostly sunny sky. It’s very boggy on the shaded half though.

BBC - sunny and 21C
Met Office - cloudy and 20C
Temperatures not too different, seems like the main difference will be whether it's sunny or not. Guess we'll see!
Very often when Met Office shows cloudy it equates to high cloud with hazy sunshine.

If I'd used the work iPhone, it would've worked, but I need it next to me for 2FA and calls.
It's an absolute stone-cold certainty that I forget and I leave it out there tonight.
Bring your phone in !

Alas, it's a Samsung.
And a very early variety of Apple, so they're long gone.
It was going so well !

It's hanging from a Apple tree in the front garden, in an attempt to maintain a signal.
Is it an Apple hanging from an apple tree next to some apples!?

Could it have been an aircraft catching the sunlight as it was turning?
