  1. There is certainly more in the way of cloud cover now. But I would have to agree with you that having looked at the clouds, they do look frontal with a layer of status-cumulus with some lower level nimbostratus/stratus cloud beneath it. Probably might become thick enough to produce a light drizzle and rain, with one or two members reporting a spot of light rain in the "Todays Weather Thread."
  2. I was also sort of expecting to see a little bit more in the way of low level/puffy clouds so far today, but it appears to have turned out to be more sunny than I first thought. I think the Northerly element of the wind has helped to prevent the low level clouds from drifting too far inland, but it is still interesting to hear that some places to the East have received cloud cover, yet other parts have missed out. On Met Office's latest observations, Shoeburyness, with an almost straight on Easterly wind, shows the sunny symbol, but I suppose the availability of the cloud and the positioning and shapes of the coasts has been helping to have an affect on who sees the cloud.
  3. The same, with cirrus and some mini low level/cumulus-like cloud making up the cloud layers. Nevertheless, the temperatures are very, very, very close to 13*C, although it feels it a little bit warmer than that, particularly when the sun is peeping through the gaps in the clouds. A bit of a blowing North-Easterly wind, also, to accompany the weather and their is a bit of a hazy look to the sky. Looks like another good day, weather-wise, to add to the books, but there may be a bit of a battle against the sky and clouds around the evening, with NetWeather showing an 87% cloud cover for around 7 o'clock. With an increase in humidity looking evident, too, and with the weakening sun and a slight decrease in pressure, it looks like the army of low level cloud(s) will have the upper hand and surround the poor ol' sky. And the battle is only going to become more intense as the small hand on the clock reaches ten. (Wha, ha, ha, ha, haa!). Who will save the sky then?
  4. Just been out to play badmington with my sister and it really did feel very lovely in the sunshine. I would almost say that there was a Summery feel to the day so far, although it has clouded up a bit. I have my hopes for an 18*C day tommorrow - would be great.
  5. Agreed - the sun has a big smile on its face. The temperatures here is around 14 - 15*C at the moment, with some patchy cloud above me (although with a larger area of blue sky to the North-West of me. Certainly still feels pleasant outside.
  6. Seriously, the standard of the photos people take on NetWeather are incredible. Some really good falls of snow in your pictures, 10123, and certainly make your mouth drool with appetite. It looks like you have had a great Winter and I really enjoyed looking at the the snowy scenes during January, in particular. Very good photo log. Well Done. (lol) Poor guy, hope he was alright after.
  7. Looks like that with every update, the gears of the warm weather is beginning to turn faster with temperatures into double figures in the day time, although with some cold/cool nights. The 850 hpa upper temperatures look generally on the cool side, particularly in the North with warmer upper temperatures becoming more frequent. Sure not much rain around, too thanks to that high pressure and very low rainfall amounts (except for at 348 hours, the GFS UK Precipitation Map shows a large area of precipitation, lol). Edit: But I agree that the warmer temperatures very late on could still change, though I hope it will still verify in some way.
  8. I have to agree that the clouds have a stormy look to them, with some jagged sharp edges around the darker parts of the clouds. Mind you, the GFS Maps had shown a little bit of a storm potential for around Wednesday and Thursday (particularly for some South-Eastern and Northern areas) with the Satcasts Extra map showing spots of convective cloud for around this period.
  9. Mostly mild with temperatures around 8.4*C, with more cloud around compared to earlier. Pressure still rising, although with a risk of rain early on this morning.
  10. Hello sgian dearg (I like the name), and welcome to NetWeather.tv and the Spring Discussion. Currently overcast, with one or two clearer patches with temperatures dropping to around 11*C. Pressure at 1010 hPa and rising. Light to moderate winds from the South.
  11. The weather here is inbetween SteveB's and Turnedoutniceagain's observations with some cloudy skies (although with a tiny bit of hazy sunshine) and a warm feel to the temperatures. Not one raindrop detected.
  12. Edit: Reading the comments, it does look like we could be heading towards a warmish, sunny spell with chances of drier weather to come. Indeed, on GFS Precipitation Map, the amount of precipitation gradually decreases the further on into the future and, far, far, away on the Temperature Map, it shows parts of the UK going under a bit of a grill (around 336 hours onwards). Around 36 hours to 48 hours, the Satcasts Extra map shows some possible convective cloud for places with the grey marks dotted about the UK, I suppose meaning their could be some unstable air around. It does look like, according to the GFS 850 hpa high-up temperature map, that around that time, some colder high-up temperatures will be trying to push down from the North-West, although unlikely to reach all areas, while the air temperatures seem to be generally mild, more especially for South-Eastern areas. Maybe showers or small storms (particularly in the South East and Northern areas) could be possible in a day or two with some supportive signs in the GFS Convective Outlook with some highish concentrations of MLCIN (j/kg) - most noticeable in the South and South East, although popping up in some Northern parts, too. The MLCAPE (j/kg), however, is perhaps not that high, although the levels look ever so slightly higher for around Wednesday. The Met Office 3 - 5 day regional outlooks seem to go with the idea of some showery weather and/or showers for places on Wednesday and especially Thursday, so some stormy-like weather may be possible.
  13. Temperature the same as yours (around 9 - 10*C) with some sunshine and patchy cloud for most of the day. Has tended to become a little bit cloudier, although with the pressure rising. Visibility around 40 km with a North Westerly wind. Happy Easter!
  14. Dude, yours and NaDamantaSam's pictures are awesome. Certainly quite a covering of snow, there, in those pictures. But something about the third picture tells me that the snow is alive with the dark brown areas looking like eyes and the round whiter patch being a nose. (attached example underneath just in case).
  15. Awwwww! Those group of hail and rain showers on the NetWeather radar are tiny (lol).
  16. From upto now, the day has been mostly invested with cloud which peeked down on the town. Then, it began to rain with some heavy showery outbreaks. I just know the cloud was trying to punish me just because I said "please don't rain today." Quite a cold feel to the day, as well, with temperatures just 0.2*C away from the number 6.
  17. Yeah, I think I will have to accept the fact that it may not snow again until next Winter (in fact, it would be great to see it snow again in October like it did on 28th October 2008). On the whole, it looks like getting a little warmer and hopefully drier for next week with lower rainfall amounts, which should be a nice change I guess.
  18. Looking at your latest post and checking the Rain Today (thanks for the link) and NetWeather radar, I would say I underestimated the shower risk for your and other South Western areas in Wales. With some showers still coming in from the West with some bubbling up, I would say you have a better chance at catching wintry showers than I last posted (although probably still a risk of one or two dying out beforehand), with hopefully more developing in the morning.
  19. There's a risk of catching the odd wintry shower later on tonight and/or tommorrow morning for your areas, before some showery rain moves into Western areas, which I'm affraid doesn't look like arriving until later on in the morning.
  20. Yeah, those showers to the North West on the radar do look very intense, with one having managed to reach the Birmingham area and gave short duration of sleet. (Probably the most snowiest of the precipitation I've had all day). I wouldn't be too surprised, especially to the people who are up North-West, to see a covering from those.
  21. Spells of rain/sleety rain this morning, with some more showery conditions around the afternoon. Odd bit of wintryness to one of the showers; temperatures around 3.5*C.
  22. A very wintry looking shower just passed containing some soft hail, with bits and pieces of snow grapuals mixed in. It really almost felt like Winter descended upon me. (Admittedly, it was very tempting to go outside in it, because it looked so pretty). I have to agree with some of the other posters and the posts I have read, that the hail, sleet and snow appears to have been more widespread than what it seemed.
  23. That sounds like fun with the climbing. I look forward to seeing the pictures.
  24. Just had the odd bit of sleet in the heavier burst of rain, with temperatures down too about 2.7*C. Looks like you guys up North are (and have been doing) very well with the snow, with some other places also receiving some.
  25. A day of sunny spells and showers, with more general light - moderate showery rain following on after. One of the showers, amazingly, fell as hail around 2:00pm, which I didn't expect, but it has raised my confidence a little about seeing some light sleet and snow tommorrow. The direction the clouds are coming from now seem to be moving in more of a Westerly direction (was moving from a Southerly direction earlier), and despite the cloud cover the temperatures have dropped close to 5*C. Really wouldn't be too surprised to even see something sleety tonight. The 981 hpa pressure, however, is rising.
