  1. Which bit are you in, Buckinghamshire is quite a big county
  2. I better go and look at the lampost in a few minutes then, and just when I'd given up hope of seeing anything this side of midnight too ! I thought it was doing something earlier this afternoon then I realised it was my neighbour burning something in his incinurator and the bits were flying my way
  3. Helloooo I'm over here in the East Never seen MK look so lovely, we have around 4,500 acres of snow covered woodland, lakes, parks and landscape, how lucky are we! The lack of gritting is great too because apart from the main grid roads is not turning to dirty slush. All we need now is a nice top up tonight
  4. I was very tempted to report the Blizzard in the East of MK and my 4 foot snow drifts but I will resist the temptation until they actually happen
  5. All fairly quiet on the Eastern side of MK at the moment, although it is starting to cloud over after a relatively sunny morning. We had a sprinkle overninght, slightly more than I expected and looks as if it was larger flakes than we had earlier in the evening, looked like someone had pressed the refresh button ! I've just noticed there is an avian attack going on outside with seagulls, looks like something from Hitchcocks 'The Birds' I assume they are flying round more because the lakes are frozen over ?
  6. Thanks TEITS - fingers crossed for another no school 'SNOW' day on Monday then ?
  7. Just had another inch in the last five minutes over here in the East.... Only joking, a very light dusting of very hard to see fine powder snow.
  8. Thanks for our lovley new thread Hello everyone ! This should make it alot easier to keep up on here and still be able to watch the lampost with the other eye . All quite on the (extreme) East of MK tonight (for now)
  9. Totally agree, although I think this site is generally fantastic it's a bit too much for me to keep up with when it's this busy. Perhaps if we were split into East Anglia, South East, and Home Counties it would be better ?
  10. I don't think so, perhaps it would be a good idea to start one, it could get a bit busy on here if we all get snow this weekend
  11. I would like to see a 3 counties thread, not that I have anything against you lovely people on the East Coast and Kent
  12. Nothing here as yet, I will keep one eye on the lampost and let you know if I spot anything white and fluffy
  13. Same over this side occasionally during the last hour or so but sometimes you have to look hard to see it, it's like frozen drizzle, even spotted it when the sun is out - very strange ! Got the front path salted again ready for the weekend snow (I hope), and my visitor has postponed for two weeks (good decision I think!) Have a lovely weekend everyone
  14. Oh.. thanks for that, very useful info. I have a visitor due from Ely on Sunday and I'm wondering if I should get her to postpone ?
  15. Yes... on the outskirts to the east, perhaps the Brickhills give me a bit more ?? I friend has been over earlier who lives in Ravenstone the other side of Olney and she was amazed how much more we have over here. Lucky me
  16. I think I will do the same now as they are saying sleet on Sat/Sun for me but show 100% snow risk from Sat-Mon I'm easliy confused anyway, could do without them making it worse (lol)
  17. Ouch ! I hope you didn't bump your head Have had several light flurries af microscopic snow in MK during the morning. Any ideas on what to expect over the weekend and into Monday ? I'm as confused as ever BBC show nothing, Metchect sleet, and others still talking of blizzards and a white out
  18. I saw that too, not what I was expecting Mind you I wasn't expecting any snow today and I've just been out for an hour and a half walk and it has snowed three times, be it almost invisable minute particles of snow, it was snowing and it was enough to cover my front path which was cleared and salted yesterday.
  19. Am I right in thinking that Friday's big snow event is now due to happen on Sunday 10/01/10 ??? Any ideas how this will affect my region (Milton Keynes) I have a visitor due from Ely this weekend and would rather postpone her visit if her journey could be difficult. I know it's a bit early to say for sure but could some one (TEITS ?) give me a better idea what to expect please ? Thanks in advance folks !
  20. Part 41 ? !! I've only been gone a while had a lovely late afternoon walk around the lake, absolutly beautiful, this weather certainly makes you appreciate all that is good in the world.
  21. No more snow here in MK (yet) but no sign of a thaw either despite it being a lovely morning with blue sky and sunshine, bitterly cold though with a very icy wind chill. I have some very pretty icicles on my conservatory, I think this is because of the heat from the inside though.
  22. You have grit on your roads Not even seen a gritting lorry here, MK councils salt is so low they are only going the main grid roads.
