  1. Up to an hour ago they were still out collecting the refuse and re cycling here, think they might go back and swap the bin lorries for gritters and come round again later !
  2. had a heated discussion with someone earlier who having read the Telegraph today is convinced (due to global warming) there is going to be an 'ice age' and we are all going to die if we don't move to Mexico (LOL) I find it so hard to understand why people can't accept that changing weather patterns happen and it has more to do with mother nature than global warming. I pointed out that vineyards thrived in southern England durning the medieval period and then between the 16th & 19th centuries it was 'normal' for the Thames to freeze over for the frost fairs ! Wow, great photo's
  3. I had an e-mail alert from the Met Office earlier, Flash Warning issued at 16:05 for Icy Roads in MK - saying sleet and snow saturday evening and ice on untreated surfaces. I think they will regularly update these warnings as events unfold.
  4. Heavy cloud coming across from the North West of me the blue sky is going fast. Woke up to a very frosty morning with what looked like a light dusting of icing sugar (very pretty). The front page of the Telegraph is a bid dramatic today, that should get a few people out panic buying
  5. Brillliant I was going to bed now but may have to wait up a bit longer to see if it comes this way !
  6. Much the same here, it was clear upto about an hour ago and we have a very thick white frost covering everywhere, it's clouded over now so maybe some light snow showers in the night ? Getting excited about middle of next week onwards, would love to get snowed in for a few days
  7. The snow has slowed down a bit now, just been out to take a picture but it's so dark it's not come out very well. I'm amazed it has stuck to the path and grass everywhere was in puddles earlier ! I've been curtain twitching all the way through part two of the Triffids, suddenly I noticed the rain had started to get very lumpy and within minutes it was huge flakes.
  8. I've never seen anything like this, after hours of icy rain (all afternoon and evening) in the last hour or so it has turned to heavy snow, and it's sticking even though everywhere is so wet, everything is turning white ! I will try to get a photo in a minute and add this, also going to have a look at the camera's on the M1 to see what it's like on the roads.
  9. Nothing but wet icy rain here all afternoon, hoping it might turn to sleet or snow during the night as Met O. still have a warning out for MK. Am I right in thinking Monday has a significant snow chance for my region ? (I'm not very good with the charts yet !)
  10. Totally agree, I've just got home and it seems colder and wetter now than it was first thing this morning when I left home, the wind has picked up and it has a really icy chill to it. I will be keeping an eye out for some sleet later from inside !
  11. Just found a great site for checking road conditions www.trafficengland.com Highways agency up to date information on Motorways and major A roads in England. You can see the motorway cameras view of traffic flow etc., I thought it could be useful to those who have to travel in bad weather so thought I would pass it on, apologies in advance if you already know about it and to those further north than Sunderland/Newcastle or if I have posted this in the wrong place !
  12. Bring it on - green grass here, it's just not looking right after being covered with snow for a week. Fingers crossed for another covering by early January !
  13. I've just seen the met office flash warning (23:13) for MK & Bucks warning of sleet & snow during the night, so I may not have to rely on my lying snow (which is still hanging in there) for a technically NOT white Christmas and may get an official one after all ! Merry Christmas everyone, lets hope there is much more white stuff to come
  14. May your Christmas be merry 'weather' it be green or white, and let's hope we are all in for some more of the white stuff very soon. Best wishes to one and all, from Snowangel (Milton Keynes)
  15. Nasty icy cold RAIN here, washing away some of the slush but not having much impact on the hard snow (yet) so we may still have some left in the morning. Still wondering why the council gritter was out earlier when within an hour it had rained and washed it all away, hopefully they have plenty in stock if they can afford to waste it and will not be saying it has all run out if we get more ice/snow in January !
  16. It's all gone horrible here the lovely sunny and frosty morning has been replaced with a very merky foggy afternoon, not sure what to expect weather wise as I've just seen a gritting lorry go up the main part of our road (only the second time since Thursday night's snow) are they expecting something? If it's going to thaw why bother we've managed to get in and out all week, I'm in a little slip road of only half a dozen houses so we get no grit, hence nextdoors grocery delivery that just so nearly ended up at the other end of the road (haha I think Tescos need to send their drivers on an advanced driving course!)
  17. Same here up the road in MK, but there wasn't alot of Christmas cheer in the ASDA Wal Mart first thing this morning miserable people were all very bah humbug !
  18. Still snowing here in MK, very small flakes but a good amount of them and no sign of a let up yet. I do so hope it is still here in the morning so I can get out and about with my camera again. (I have put some of the pictures I took on Friday in the gallery, also some from February.) Stay safe and enjoy it everyone
