Off to the sunny south coast tomorrow for the day, unfortunately it’s for a funeral the only good thing is no black to be worn (definitely good in this heat) at least I get to see the sea I suppose!
Good turn out for the Summer Solstice sunrise at Campbell Park this morning, I wasn’t there myself so credit to the photographer who got up early!

light rain in SE london this morning, still grey and cloudy over Westminster now.
the wind has been more nagging than a nagging wife having a nag and doesn't seem to have abated today.
Which hasn’t abated the wife or the wind
Tra la, it's the last day of May and I’m freezing cold, I was going to go out today but decided to wait until the sunshine comes back so literally chilled out at home, soup and fluffy socks - I’d like to think next month would be better but have had to remind myself that Flaming June is a painting not a forecast!

The abundance of flowers on the Common Hawthorne this year (May blossom) really is quite a show, I’ve never seen so much of it round here. The general story goes that once you see it out its flowers in full - you can take off the Winter clothes hence the saying “n'er cast a clout till May is out”
Much as I would like to believe the folklore and take the huge display of blossom this year on many fruiting trees and shrubs as a sign of a cold and snowy winter to come science says it is due to 'vernalisation': a process where cold weather promotes the formation of fruiting buds. We had an extra-cold period in December, with temperatures as low as -15°C and continuous low temperatures for a fortnight. Ideal for fruit vernalisation, so the trees have flowered well this Spring.

and do i spot a hot tub by the grey steps?
You do, I thought I’d hidden it well behind the garden room (aka jungle) ….your powers of observation are just way too good
…..my excuse (and I’m sticking to it) for the indulgence (and a slightly higher electricity bill, although being Canadian built it is very well insulated so not that bad) is that being a hydro spa it’s for medicinal use…

Haven't looked into temps, but we are defo getting some high pressure soon, might still be an easterly down here though, we'll see
Well I assume they know something to put out a how to stay safe it the heat guide 5 hrs ago - I don’t think todays dizzy high of 14 degrees justified it
…..hopefully everyone can start moaning they are too hot soon

things ramping up here in Westminster, lots of BBC outside broadcast lorries parked up around the abbey and houses of parliament and parliament green has been re-turfed and looks splendid again, unlike the patch of mud it looked like a week ago.
Yesterday was a day of splendour that brought the world’s eyes to our wonderful country to marvel in the spectacle of history being relived in the symbolism of the ceremony and the beauty of our regalia, such a shame the weather decided to be so typically British
Today however we have been typically British and enjoyed cream tea in the garden (and before anyone comments the jam & cream on the scones are the correct way round according to how they are served at Buckingham palace)
