I'm afraid I am allowing myself to get a bit excited as it is my birthday on Monday, and some snow would be a lovely present.
When I was born apparently the snow was knee deep.Happy Birthday for Monday, you might have to wait for your present though but enjoy anyway x

I'm guessing you are nae 66!
Belated birthday wishes Ed, I hope it was a good one ! I have a big one coming up end of Aug, so I can remember Dixon of Dock Green

A nicer day here today, some sun but still really breezy. Nice to have a day of rest from the rain though before tomorrows downpour and gale.
Fingers crossed for next week & some snow. Had nothing at all here last month so been waiting almost 2 years now (all my fault for buying new snow boots Jan 22)
Also, happy birthday @Ed Stone
I also have to take responsibility as I too prematurely purchased new snow boots, they are still waiting to be christened !

and you can get your boots out
I do hope so.......I did just double take your comment before replying to make sure it was boots you said not boobs
Anyway looks like pretty much anyone anywhere could get some wintry precipitation early next week, after then who knows....I'm trying very hard to ignore talks of SSW and the SPV doing the splits and not get too excited about something way out in FI when we don't even know what's happening beyond Sunday !

Still 'cold from the West' which I'm afraid I will only believe when I see it - there will be a short wave and the cold will be mixed out.
We will see, time for a pattern change… I’ll take dry and cooler even if it’s just average and a few wintry showers thrown in, enough of this wet & mild mush I say!

Sleet and snow symbols for me next Tuesday, first time this year that I've seen the snowflake used, only time will tell if any will actually fall from the sky of course but it's encouraging !
Meantime I have a rat in me garden....what am I gonna do ?

Well, the physics and rocket science went well, didn't it? Talk about reinventing the wheel. Badly.
It went well apart from the second stage rockets failure to reach orbit altitude.
Watching it live, it looked like the liquid oxygen was being used up much quicker than the kerosene RP-1 rocket fuel. I'm sure Virgin Orbit noticed, after all it’s not rocket science.... erm.... 🫣

Well it seems like I went to work too early. Couldn't see my computer screen in work at all. So looks like I am off for the rest of the week, which I hate for two reasons. Love my job, hate been stuck indoors.
Oh dear you did seem a bit keen to get back to work, at least you tried!
Meanwhile the weather is still the friggin' same....UGH! I just want some snow !
For todays fix (as ski Sunday didn’t really help much yesterday) I watched “The Big Snow of 1982” (it was after then and the “great storm of 1987” that I got really into the weather & forecasting) anyway it was interesting especially regarding the Albedo effect on the temperature. Also it reminded me we couldn’t get any milk delivered from the dairy so we had to manage with “five pints” I’d forgotten all about that!

is it bedtime yet?
back to work tomorrow after been off bar one day since 9th december.
so glad to be out the house, yet really don't want the commute to and from work.
Hope you can see where your going, mind the gap
These boots were made for walking in the snow, they are still waiting - starting to wonder if I’ll get to use them this winter, I had such high hopes, maybe I should have got wellies

TODAY'S WEATHER: crappy with continued crappy until tomorrow when the weather is expected to be slightly less crappy before turning more crappy on Tuesday!
As you can probably tell I’m fed up of this windy wet January already, also sick of hearing about the Ginger “spare” and Me-again whinging on about their terrible life so I’m immersing myself in a weekend of binge watching, so far all of “Litvinenko” and now started on “the light in the hall” both very good

On this day 13 years ago, snow blanketed the UK……
On January 7th 2010, overnight temperatures had plunged to -18 degrees Celsius (-0.4 degrees Fahrenheit) in isolated spots, with more widespread temperatures of -10 degrees Celsius (14 degrees Fahrenheit).
Snow covered most of England, from the east to the west coast. (The large image shows snow cover over the entire island of Great Britain.)
The cities of Manchester, Birmingham, and London form ghostly gray shapes against the white land surface. Immediately east of London, clouds swirl over the island, casting blue-gray shadows toward the north.
The heavy snowfall downed power lines, leaving several thousand homes in southern England without electricity.

Well this is a new one on me, can't wait until the Daily Fail or Excess headlines pick up on it, "UK to be battered by pineapples"

right, pizza eaten, pain meds taken, time for sleep
If only …. No point going to the Alps though, they are having to make their own snow for the very green & rocky looking ski slopes
speedy recovery

Christmas January is over, tomorrow I officially enter real January……
No more alcohol and cake for breakfast (all the nice food is gone now so only healthy options available) the pretty lights & decorations are down (the living room feels huge…but bare) and sadly no more afternoon naps (well not the days I’m working anyway) 🥹what I really need now is some snow to cheer me up!

well all this talk of 'winters over' is a load of tosh. is blinking cold out there, nothing like spring or summer
We had a frost last night !
Hope you get on okay tomorrow for your eye op
I had my stitches out this afternoon, my hand has healed well but I needed a tetanus shot, apparently I hadn’t had once since 1969

Happy new year to all - at least it’s started out dry (the weather) can’t say the same about myself

Good Morning Everyone! Happy damp squib Saturday ️
Looks like the risk of heavy snow early next week has all but gone (for now) We will have to see what happens, maybe the high ground of Kent will catch something but sounds more like it will go for a swim in the channel instead
Hopefully the arrival of some cold polar air will give us a break from this miserable wet stuff, what we need then is a Scandi High / Best from the East for end of Jan or early Feb just to give us one more blast of wintery weather…..after then I’ll be ready to welcome spring
In the meantime here is a photo from 10 years ago today….feels a bit like saying “have a look at what you could have had”
All enjoy your weekend, personally I’m hunkering down with a good book (not that SPARE one) I said a good book, I prefer fact to fiction lol
