  1. Not very excited at all if im honest. Marginal conditions are awful when its come to my very localised area, i live within 300M's of a power station in the lowest part of a town already in a valley. I think my house is about 55M asl. Im expecting a period of sleety rain followed by some transitonal wet snow. Leaving things very wet and grim looking. At least if you have low expectations, you cant be dissapointed.

  2. Got a visual on this fairly large shower. The heaviest of the shower is passing me to my NW by a good few miles, but it has started to snow here considerably!

Will report back on how intense it was!

Edit: Shower has moved SW now but was on the edge of it so had some largely moderate snowfall, though was heavy at times. Wind was quite gusty in there aswell. Really wish I was right underneath it...can imagine there must have been some intense, blizzard-like conditions over Rugeley - where the the heaviest precip was.

Wow that was amazing, looked very dark toward my NE, then from bright winter sunshine to blizzard mayhem in 5 minutes. Visibility was down to less than 50m's at times, particularly when the wind blew and flakes turned haily. IM absolutely astounded, only wish my camera was working as that was something i haven't witnessed for a while. True intense, powdery massive flakes, wind, drifting and then a hail shower. My back garden has around a CM.

  3. Forgive me for being down beat, but around a week ago my first incling for this cold period, was that it would predominantly dry, dull and cold at times. I feel that inclination is going to fare well. Todays GFS has almost gott'n rid of any PPN away from the far SE. The high looks like it may well "over-retrogress" to the W of the UK after the weekend and therefore allow a quick return to the atlantic from the SW during the first half of next week. I hope im very wrong, but i fear we may be heading for a dry, dull and chilly 7-10 days before a return to milder and more unsettled conditions. GFS FI did show a bit of a snowy armageddon at the beginning of next week but we all know what FI means.

*Prays the weather prooves him wrong*

Sorry to seem downbeat, but i just have a feeling.

  4. Slightly dissapointed by todays charts, but things do look good or some showers pushing in at times. Got an iffy feeling about this cold spell, certainly something isnt quite set in stone yet and this feels a lot more in the balance than the last cold spell. This morning ECM suggests retrogression will be too far to the west and therefore allowing the atlantic a quick return from the SW. Plenty of time for change though.

  5. Lets not talk about football, The Super Saddlers (Walsall FC) are by far the best team in the Midlands..

    Still slightly snowing.

Know that's what we like to see!!! One bad thing about this cold spell has been the lack of football i've been able to see, 5 games postponed running - im starting to get desperate.

Back on subject we have around 5CM here in my back garden, i was expecting rain tbh

  6. Hmm, I would be surprised if we didn't get at least a few flakes, they are certainly pushing westwards, hopefully westwards enough, and they are certainly holding together very well. If you have the NW radar you will see what I mean. If not I shall keep you posted!

Haven't you got a bus shelter to smash? That's what you Leicester folk do in your spare time isn't it...biggrin.gif

Cheers mate - certainly hope so.

  7. Snow levels looking increasingly less likely as we move through out the weekend now, with the main bulk of the PPN staying south of birmingham during sunday and monday. Forgive me if that is you bill, but i'd say you have another imposter on your hands. I live most of my life over on null and thoose posts didnt seem particularly "bill" like.. lets just say...

  8. Well im not sure my love for WFC is liking this love for snow - although WFC wins most of the time so i think it can handle a little time away for once. Although 4 games in a row does take the mickey a tad, with a 5th looking likely to be called off for tuesday night as well. -8 here btw already. Hoping thoose showers can stick together as we could see another dusting, although it is the nature of showers for coverings to be either localised or only scattered and not on a widespread scale, noticed how rob's forecast graphics showed some PPN moving south from northern england during friday evening as well, hopefully a few more flurries there. Sunday then looks llike being the main event, although very sceptical atm on PPN amounts and certainly how far north the snow will be. Looks like an interesting weekend though and next week shows more snow possibilites too.

Message to NICK the baggies fan - good luck for the game tommorow. Always had a soft spot for the albion and would much rather you were in the top division then thoose dirty in-bred dingles!
