The ppn just keeps dying over London

Yeah I spotted only a few flakes on my blink cams, I live in Parkstone. I just want enough for a snow ball. 1cm will do

Morning from a cold and still bloody dry, Poole. One word for us in the south west - FIZZLE. The one time in years where the ppn would be cast on snow and its fizzles before getting here. Shove off NE winds, we need an Easterly!

If only! But I don't believe it. Every upcoming spell is watered down here. Every.single.time

I've seen this before. Few years back now. We had weather warnings for heavy snow and it just sat out in the Channel. I will believe it when I see it falling

GFS has the snow to far South yet again. Feel like this is slipping away. Just a 50 mile shift North would do it. Will go down to Radar watch this week and hope we get enough Ooomph to shift things west in the showers. At this stage ill be happy to see a flake!
Same. Not had a flake since 2018 I think now. I am snow starved

Looking at all the information the rather predictable downgrades have started for us in Dorset, on the coast. Met office predicting sleet. I wish I could understand WHY it is so hard to get snow here. We used to get it all the time until the late 80s. 2010 now seems to be a once in a generation event. We never get upgrades here. Attention moves to next week now I think!

Well just caught up with the latest after walking the dog, I think regardless of what happens Sunday we will get snow in many places down here. Even if the breakdown does happen it would still be snow for a time before turning to rain. Met office favour sliders so in my eyes were doing okay to be fair after the fax and met office warnings.
Have I missed something? The whole of the SW isn't under any warnings yet

Or realist?
Snow is rare in these parts. I've seen heavy snow forecast for it to be kept out in the Channel. Bitter Easterly with Channel lows produce the best here but its so finely balanced. 99/100 if there's marginal you can bet it won't snow. If there's a band crossing, it will fizzle. I agree with your realism. Not a flake so far this season. I will believe it when I see it

I'm at 4.1°C after the passing shower pulled some colder air down.
My cameras have suddenly dropped to 3c. I wonder if there's a chance of a wintery mix later? Still, I'd prefer it milder than marginal. This is wasted cold rain

What temp is your station picking up mapanz? My back garden blink cameras say 5c

Yup busted the double digits, peaked at 10.7°C at: 12:50, this afternoon has been dull with a general layer of low cloud, oh well it is January, current temperature is 8.7°C, RH 84 % and a light wind in from the NW..the wind has however dropped out now..
Looking around at where we are (in the UK) methinks this could be our delivery for winter. Anyway at least we not suffering from excessive rainfall, but it looks set fair for more rain this week, and look out to next weekend with a potential channel low, it currently looks (still way too far out to be sure) we have more rain Inbound.. however three days in the current situation is a long time. Ignoring everybody that talks 240hrs out, as it's a waste of space right now..
I agree. We need a channel low from an easterly in Dorset. I'm not fussed about transient snow or back edge risks as they rarely pay off. 2010 is where I'm at

I think with all the hype and carrying on, down here it still looks like promise of change but always 240hrs away, so being content with rain is a must, makes a change from the dry cooler spell though, kinda breaks the monotony!
A classic comment posted in the MAD thread today sums things nicely "The hi-res GFS snow depth does not really activate in the south until d10 and that will not last long on the 06z.."
It's always day 10

Rain here, it is cold and a serious power cut in Poole to boot. Don't think it's an easy fix as they are digging the road up now. For once I am not enjoying the cold
-
It's milder here with all 3 of my blink cameras reporting 7c wouldn't say that's far off
-
Still no thunder in Poole. We seem to have a sheild from it!

Days with Yellow warnings for storms 5, actual storms experienced 0. I’m going for the full set of 8. Just three more to go.
P.S Wasn’t expecting a storm everyday, such is the nature of t-storms but to have not seen a single one this week after temps of 30c at times here in East Dorset these past sevens days is quite a bust by anyone’s standards. Mapantz’s SOR really does work down here.
Yep, same in Poole. One heavy shower a rumble of thunder and that was it a total non event here

Don't rule anything out elsewhere, I was talking mainly about my locale. Bits & pieces may still develop, but I think it's a done deal here.
Same in my locale. Everything goes slightly north or runs out of steam

So disappointed in Poole. One shower so far and I think just a couple rumbles of thunder. Not only a snow sheild but a storm sheild as well lately
-
Never wanted it to thunder more than I do now. Severely storm starved in Poole and boy do we need it!

Camping in Dawlish right now and the rain is horrendous! Luckily we set up yesterday before rain started. Has been a bit scary testing out the tent waterproofing! Holding up so far. Hopefully it will lighten up soon!
