lol, No need to apologize, it was a hypothetical question. I'm very interested in viewing it, i did read it was first discovered it would come as close as 0.8AU and it has been revised down to 0.24AU. Quite some recalculation, however i do not know the strength of the authority giving that information. Every subject i search about these days has a huge amount of people giving a conspiratorial view on the subject. This in itself is the biggest conspiracy i feel. Very divide and conquer.

It does indeed, considering the orbit has been recalculated since it was first discovered. Any more in our direction and things could get interesting. Comets are sometimes called Dusty snowballs as they contain a lot of ice among other things. A big If it was to impact earth. Does anyone know what effect ice entering our atmosphere could do to weather? I have thoughts of tales of 40 floods.

Hi Stargazer I'm not too young, I did not witness them myself as in the mid to late nineties i was in my late teens enjoying partying until the stars had gone and the sun had come up. I did see pictures in the media etc. I have always had interests in Weather, Nature & the cosmos but it's only in the last few years I've really started to study things more and take an active interest now I have more time and my first telescope.

Nasa link I saw an orbit video where it looks to pass straight through the orbit of the stereo b satellite which just brought us the 360deg picture of the sun. There is a growing conspiracy belief with this one when you search for details, Deep Impact connections, Nibiru, 2012 etc etc etc. youtube link I do find it telling of our times, when you search "Comet Elenin" in Google News you get 1 result, yet over 30,000 in a standard search. Now if you put Katie Price in Google News you get over 400 results. Is this what is known as "dumbing down"? I for one can't wait to get my telescope on it. Thanks for last years image. It does indeed look very similar in the Atlantic.

I couldn't tell you, Last year was quite a picture in the Northern Hemisphere but i don't have any other years of images to compare it too. We seem to be the odd ones out though, the weakening gulf stream is still doing its job by the looks of the picture. I would like to see the picture at the end of Feb, i have a feeling it may look even more spectacular.

Thanks for the updated animation. Still looks abnormal around the Gulf Of Mexico to me. That whole area has not been the same since the oil disaster.

Concerning the Gulf stream. This is from BornFromTheVoid in the sea surface temps thread. Still looks suspect to me. Will give it more attention if it stays the same come spring.

Please be correct on that prediction!

Hi all, Kind of glad your forecast didn't turn out exactly as planned MB as it would have caused much devastation. However, with more refinement and work i think you are on to something here, all forecasts you have made have not been that far off the mark considering the length of time given and your admitted lack of understanding of meteorology. There is something to work on, Edison had over one thousand "failures" before solving the mystery on how to harness light. I hope you keep at it. I believe you should be encouraged by all as should anyone attempting to better our understanding of the world we inhabit. Thanks to RJS and Coast for all your work too. Most interesting thread. This is from the daily mail a few days ago. Still a very harsh winter, i think we haven't seen the last of it.

Looks very nasty, huge area being forecast an ice storm from 1/4" to 1" of ice! Loads of snow to areas already buried. I think we may hear more about this storm.

Afternoon all, Still looking forward to the outcome of your forecast M.B. I think you have conducted yourself well in this thread having to put up with a lot of ironic hypocrisy. I find it amusing some of the most offensive posts are guilty of the very thing upsetting them. To claim higher consciousness, 4th dimension and ancient knowledge are all esoteric rubbish whilst giving a very stubborn "psychic" prediction (it won't happen) about a future event yet to happen.?? Has me giggling in disbelief anyway. OldManMet, i find your post's very refreshing and wise, I'm glad you have become a regular poster. To open's people's minds a little more to what you can not see i will post the visible light spectrum. Added to this you can think of the audible frequency spectrum running 20hz-20khz. There is many forces and energy's outside of what we can see, touch and feel with our senses. Think of all the information passing through the ether every second in the form of radio waves which you do not see but accept as real and use. M.B's forecast may well be wrong but some of the posts I've had to read have been extremely closed minded and ignorant. If you don't understand something it doesn't mean its not possible.

Thanks for the reply Murcie Boy. I love how my mind can understand the workings of what appear complex cycles and chaotic order, yet would have no idea as to explain it in a mathematical equation. I'm currently reading a book i received as an x-mas gift about astronomy. I find it refreshing how many self taught astronomers their were in the past. I'm 100% self taught in my profession and now make my living in it. All minds at various levels can add to many fields without understanding fully the workings of it. As science knows, just when you begin to think you understand, you often find more to the puzzle that takes you back to the drawing board. A programmed mind can often miss what the un-programmed doesn't. I now have a moral dilemma as i wish for you to be correct in your forecast so we can begin to see more advancement in weather modeling. I do believe we need to look outside our world as well as in it for cycles repeating. However that is a beast of a storm forecast. Much devastation would occur from that. If you are correct many will ask what could have been done with this prior knowledge (if it can be proven and more importantly accepted). Interesting comments on "it has been known for aeons" Are we just catching up with ancient knowledge, especially when it comes to nature?? I could talk for hours on that! Hi MurcieBoy, Been reading this thread with interest and now even more interest! I saw your x mas prediction and the very low pressure in Nov, In my eyes both more accurate than any model I know of at that range. Any chance you can explain your DNA forecast system in layman terms so we can understand your methods? I would also say this thread is yours and it would be good to carry on here and keep the unfolding story in one place. Happy new year! P.S I saw BFTP comment on rhythmic cycles, I am a producer/sound engineer and since the moment i learned about the physics of sound,waveforms and cycles, everything in nature has made more sense.

Great post Alan. Could not agree more with this part. I have also noticed the data being used showing the N.A.D have been different, one at the surface and one 200m deep. Obviously a big difference and a nice trick to convince people who will not dig further. I do believe there has been and will be many negative impacts from B.P's irresponsibility, but shutting down the N.A.D I am not convinced on. However, back to the N.A.D, many papers where published regarding salinity testing a few years back. All pointed to a slowing in strength. It's quite clear the science of co2 is fraudulent. Water vapor is the most abundant greenhouse gas in our atmosphere. Co2 is a very small amount, loved by plants and used in many agricultural fields to increase yield. You breath it out as you read this and when you talk to your plants. Come away from lobby groups, M.P's, government paid/employed scientists and a lot of well meaning but misinformed people and you see 30,000 scientists trying to sue Al Gore for his fraudulent hockey stick graph linking it with temps. The problem isn't co2, removing the earths lubricant will cause more problems than it being reabsorbed. The problem is many other pollutants and disrespect of our home. People see this which is why so many latch on to this political movement to tax you without understanding the problems. We see news stories of green energy, Nuclear green energy, is that Orwellian or am i missing something? We have to get rid of that toxic waste product somewhere. How do we know a secret underground storage facility will never suffer an earthquake, landslide etc etc. Yet we have past scientists like Nikola Tesla that invented free electricity over 100 years ago which is still suppressed as you can't charge for it! lol. To find out if we are indeed entering a period of global cooling you will have to judge for yourself. However global warming has always lead to global cooling. So my opinion on this subject is 100% we will enter a new Ice age, when though i couldn't tell you! As for the next few winters, a cooling trend is my call based on Solar Cycles, Volcanic Activity, looking out my window and current SST. Meso

Yes such a shame so many people fail to research the source of the information and take blindly what people say. I'm not saying this scientist isn't correct but if i was on a jury i know my decision so far. A world full of deceit I find the conspiracy field which is such a shame a there is many truths to be told among it. Needle in a hay stack come to mind though. We shall continue watching the SST and see if he was indeed onto something. I wish some of the sites putting this out would actually give some more information on sources, they are very wild claims, you need extra support for them in my mind.

Every single video/article i have come across claiming the gulf stream has stopped/weakened significantly due to B.P is a repeat of one source. There is only one source i can find for this suggestion, about ten thousand websites carrying the same story though! The source is "Dr. Gianluigi Zangari of the Research Division of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics at Frascati National Laboratories in Italy" Now when you Google this you will get all the same reports, if there is anything to this the authority of this scientist needs to be confirmed. Frascati National Laboratories exist however when i search the Dr's name it come up with no results.?? Dig deeper into who this scientist is before believing what he says. If anyone finds anything report it in this thread. I would say there will be repercussions from the B.P disaster but what they are will take a lot longer to find out and most importantly prove. It can't be forgotten the salinity tests done several years back which gave alarming results.

Thank you for the education. I love to learn and view the mind as an infinite hard drive, i will look that up now and remember it! My point was it used to be a bit greener and a lot milder in parts(round about where the warming is?), I've been watching the SST and have noticed Greenland being warmer than average for quite a while now. I'm interested in past weather cycles and i find it very interesting the N.A.D seems to be not coming our way but a new anomaly has been quite persistent around Greenland. When i have researched into Ice periods the common theme is they are caused by solar cycles, sea currents and volcanic activity. I believe we reached a tipping point in 2007and are now in a period of global cooling with all of these factors coming together. A look at the interglacial data shows these very long term cycles clearly. I think it is worth more investment into the study of past cold cycles over warm as they are far deadlier.
