  1. Drizzle snow here for the last ten Min's or so. Better than no snow. Going to try and dig my car out now. Sounds like it'll be buried again but its got to come out of Tue/wed snow first!
  2. Hi all, Going to try and attach some photo's of the snow from yesterday, had a request to show the uprooted tree and snapped branches from the weight of the snow. The tree falling must of happened just before we got there as the roots where still covered in earth with the snow still falling and everything around was white. Hopefully all works OK, sorry if not!
  3. Morning all, got down to -9.9 here last night. Going to try and upload some photo's later from my friends camera once he's out of bed! Got one of an uprooted tree(not a massive tree) which happened just before we got there and some good pics of large branches that have come down. Wonder if we'll be in the firing line again today, not sure how much more we can take!
  4. -4.7 now. Falling fast. I feel for the tree's, looks like we've had 70MPH winds through here with the amount of branches down and the odd tree uprooted through sheer weight of snow. Hope everyone missing snow gets hit by the low tomo. Night all.
  5. -4.4 here at the moment. Can see that going down a few more.
  6. I love to hear things like that, always amazed at how perfect nature is and how terrible man has become working in unity with it. A good friend who is a gardener told me even before Glazier Point about a cold winter this year! He told me in early November the birds are leaving the berries on the tree's late this year as they are expecting a cold winter?? Turned out to be very accurate!
  7. It may well kill off a lot of plants that have become accustomed to the milder UK winters of the last load of years too.
  8. Lol. I think I'm too honest, they wouldn't accept me. (nor would i want to raise the money for my campaign by taking brides from self interested business men).
  9. Thanks to all the forecasters with their excellent posts. We saw just over 24 hours of snowfall and have seen near on a foot. Just back from the darts at Lakeside and after a few drinks feel like joining in the rant! Glad to see people on here aren't buying into the Global Warming propaganda. Co2 is breathed out buy us every other second and it is a food for plants. My grandfather used to buy it to feed to his plants and get bumper crops. It occurs in such minor levels in our atmosphere a large volcano can increase it noticeably. Don't get me wrong, we have a massive consumption problem to deal with as well as polluting our air and water. But co2 is a means to drain money from the masses Want to cut the levels, encourage more allotments and educate people to grow their own food, balancing the equation which is natures way, cutting down on transportation, exploitation of workers in foreign lands, packaging not to mention the good health benefits of the exercise and the connection we feel when working in harmony with the planet. We get charged for over filling our bins with the crap corporations package there stuff in, erm, maybe make laws to stop the problem at source making it illegal to package anything in something other than recyclable material. And not 2 or 3 layers of it! I have a strong knowing that there is massively corrupted forces in our system working against the people. The beauty of this weather is it makes people step back form the rat race and rather than ignoring everyone and avoiding eye contact we start to help each other and step back from the rat race. Long may it continue, bring back community living! Sorry. Rant over..
  10. Getting heavier here again, 21 hours of continuing snowfall! Yeah, you can really add merc's to the list, my brother drives one and they can't handle frost let alone snow! Automatic ones are the worst.
  11. The main roads are drivable if you haven't got a BMW, the worst car I've seen for snow! so many of em cause chaos on my hill outside. Was funny watching an old micra overtake one. All the side roads are deep, at least 6" to over a foot depending on cover. Hardly anyone out on the roads though. Tree has fallen on a power line near guildford somewhere which has cut power for a lot of people around here, luckily mine is back on, for now.
  12. I have a 30 foot bushy tree in my neighbors back yard which is now looking like a ten foot spider. Looks like avalanches coming of some roofs, ambulance siring going by! To all those so called rampers........ well done you called it right, not everyone will see the worst but some will and we certainly have here. If we get some intense stuff later i really think this area will be in a bad way. At least the army's local!
  13. Been out and about and we have tree's snapping all over the place, some big branches coming of the pines. Over a foot in places, cars getting buried in as the snow falls off them and more settles. Power has gone off twice now but come back on after 5 Min's both times. Still coming down at a pace but very small flakes, we haven't had the most intense ppn but it hasn't stopped for 20 hours now. Going to lakeside for the darts this eve as its down the road. Walking it! Going to take some pics later. Will upload them tomo.
  14. Well lets hope for a Thames streamer for Guildford.....................and me. Thanks for your forecasts. Very accurate. Have a good one.
  15. I feel your pain, i hate it when someone has a flurry and i haven't! It is looking good for your area in the next few days too isn't it? Hopefully you'll get a good dumping.
  16. Hi Kold, Your estimate last night was very accurate, we've got 7-8", its still snowing now and we're under a warning for later tonight too. I'm thinking if we get another dump today/tonight we may see some big probs with power lines etc.
  17. Currently just under 8" and still falling. Just looked at the met warnings and they are predicting another 5-25cm for my area from 18.00 - 23.59 Looking at the shape of the low its really getting feed now by the thames, i can see this being a record event for some.
  18. Will measure properly when i go and play in it! However it hasn't stopped falling since 6PM yesterday and it looks a lot deeper than Feb which hit here hard. I'd say we got at least 8" on untouched surfaces. Keeps falling off everything when it gets to high!
  19. Thats me! I can confirm its just got heavier, been constant since 6pm although a lot of periods of light snow too. A good 5" at last look. Off to bed soon. Will be up early to play in the snow! Night all and good luck.
  20. Lol, yep. already been for a walk to the shops. Its lovely out (wrap up warm!) Been look at your forecasts all day. I warned my flatmate not to go to London this afternoon as i dropped him and his girlfriend at the train station. Stuck at waterloo and have to find a B&B! Looks like an easterly could be on the cards? How do you see Thur/Fri going.
  21. High Kold Weather. Thanks for all your forecasts and interpretations of the charts! Not far from Guildford and we are approaching 5" on the untouched cars and its still coming.
  22. 5 inch's and counting........ Feb 09 gave 6". Can the channel beat the Thames streamer? I think the Thames may have another go soon if these easterlies come off!
  23. 3 inch's and counting! This is going to cripple those hit by this band when you think it wont melt for ????? Looks like the channel streamer is showing the north sea how to do it!
  24. Been snowing here for an hour now and we have an inch! Maybe we could get a foot!
