  1. showers dont seem to know witch way there moving at the mo.....maybe they'll get stuck here also bbc said showers in east being blown in on strong winds....does that give them more chance of getting accross penines
  2. any one elsew having problems with raintoday radar trhink its gone into meltdown....snow easing now here
  3. cant believe its misseed preston ....unbelievable
  4. usually i try not to get upset by the weather i am its totally beyond our control but this is a real p#*@er Any chance of this being less marginal later or tomorrow?
  5. nice to see some are getting snow looks like beinga wash out for preston are temps due to drop going be very icy here if this freezes Cant believe were getting rain after temps this morning
  6. Shows you how 'marginal' it is ...im coming to dislike that word intensly....it was -6 last night and now its marginal
  7. didnt even seem like sleet to me ...wet rainy rain in the town centre.....and the front in scotland seems to be weakening
  8. is this wishful thinking the front has just come of the sea and is currently holding mild air and therefore sleeting, as it passes over frozen ground in scotland and northern england it mixes with cooler air, by the time it gets to us the system has cooled considerably.....(I know im not really factoring in irish sea but surely if the front has colder air that will influence rthings.)
  9. yes sleety to snow in Preston 20 mins ago is it just me ....irrespective of temps and dew ponts that front in scotland looks like it will be very weak by the time it gets here and looks like its moving too far east wont it miss much of the region????
  10. off for a walk tomorrow anyone know how things look around the trough of bowland

As soon as I reached the M6, the snow started to disappear until I got to the Lancashire border, where it all went. At least we won. I would like to take this opportunity to say sorry to anyone who lives in Blackpool. It must be awful for you.
  12. [quote name=V for Very Cold' date='02 January 2010 - 20:11 ' timestamp='1262463107' post='1691396] Yeah get outta here we want to wallow in our greyness no seriously glad someone nw is seeing some good weather and for the rest of us.....if you need a tune to provide some empathy try jj72 snow should I be posting on the Yorkshire/pennines thread as I seem to be having hugely different weather to the vast majority of ppl on this thread ?
  13. whats likely for tomorrow guys because i dont think i can cope with any more of watching tne radar hoping a shower may just reach me. If this pattern carries on ill have been sacked for over using tinternet wife and dog will leave on grounds of neglect and ill be stuck in a grey wet preston unable to leave as all tne outlying roads and tne rest of the country are under 3 foot of snow. please snow or dont and cure my unhealthy radar addiction.
  14. i was really hoping just a bit of that from ne would reach me oh well looks like its fingures crossed for tuesday
  15. happy new year all Thats a fair collection of showers in the n e is there any geographical reason why they formed there or could they just as easily have been heading for us?
  16. Thanks and to Cheshire Gap...I dont know if all threads are the same but I've had any question answerded here usually in multiples, which im grateful for. Im a self employed gardener so i rekon knowing a bit a about the weather will be useful. ps if I can reciprocate..any plant related qestions pm (particularly worries about loosing plants in the forthcoming cold or not so cold)
  17. another question to expose my ingnorance ...the streamers were now seeing in the north sea ...are the caused by the relative warmth of the sea ...and are they therefore less likely to continue at night? I ask because someone earlier suggested clod cover was the reason for the gap in the streamers
  18. we got a drop in the town centre few mins ago
  19. agreed I know how hard a job they must have but they havnt covered themselves in glory this cold spell... where is this cold air STILL pretty warm in Preston (though doesnt feel it in the wind)
  20. still no sign of cooler air here in Preston
