does look like even slim chance has gone...moving on when should we expect some cold air met o seem to think could be a couple of days yet and even then nothing special

again excuse my ignorance but surly the only concern (particularly for those inland) is will the front move north...temps tonight will inevitably be cold enough (this time last nigh night my temps city centre were 3.5 same now last nights low -0.5 I expect the same hopefully lower tonight) I am a complete novice at this and I dont know anything about the likelyhood of the front stalling...but if it does hit tonight it will surely be snow

Still fairly warm in Preston...what is the best way (if possible at all) to track the cold air on its way in ala rainfall radar... (please noone say with a thermometer I mean the movement of the cold air on its way) I very much trust the opinions of more knowledgable members here so can only think snow is v unlikly here as thats the consensus.....however a) thats alot of precip....and it is moving north :o it looks likely to be over us at noght when temps are going to be low enough (arent thay) c) the met office say we will see snow. Can someone explain why is so unlikely? Thanks

i take it from the lack of activity in here most feel were destined to miss out mid week, and with later falls coming from convective easterlies likely we miss out then too?

Thanks snowmad. Even as a new member i've noticed the southern bias on model thread.......I have a question. is the current exitement normal for netweather or are we seeing someting unusual and as big as some are suggesting on said model threads? (I dont necassarily mean big for the north west but just an event the likes of which we havnt seen for a long time although id love it to involve us) I am not neccassarily asking specifically about midweek but this system as a whole is it really potentially as massive as some feel?

Latest charts seem to have caused a big stir on the model discussion thread....apocolyptic for someon by the looks of things....would be grateful if someone could explain what latest models mean for us in terms of mid week event and long term. Still not cooling down much here.

ok if im getting it right long term is good as cold spell drags on short term we miss out. in general there seems to be a lot of extement and talk of a winter we havnt seen in thirty years.tell me, honestly (im new) do people nere get ghis exited rdbularly or is this potentially big.

newby here and at the mo the charts are beyond me as are the vastly differing interperatations offered here, although i appreciate and enjoy reading them. So to help me a little if i amto get the best outcome here anf see some snow or at least a good cold snap, when should we expect to see a drop in temp its still mildish here

I think the roads were worse they have been during this snap today....with this thaw and clear skies ...could be even worse tomorrow.... Having said that its pretty warm here now even under clear skies....will it get cold enough to freeze here???

fair thaw going on here in Preston too ...wonder if that band nmoving north will amount too much......may be too warm here when it hits

any chance of a partial thaw with it all freezing again later. roads would be worse than today if that happens

yes im really shocked ...had a bet in work on Saturday that we woulkdnt get an inch or lying snow all winter ...woke up yesterday to this..... never been happier to loose a bet

Well ive lived here for 12 years and this is by far the most snow ive ever seen here....an older guy I spoke to at the allotments earlier rekons worse (best) for 40 years...oh hang on ill attach a pic

wonder if it will be similar pattern for Preston tonight ..most of our snow this event seems to have fallen early hours...theres lots on the ground so i know theres been for a fair bit but ive hardly seen any fall despite being up till gone one every night and up 7ish

with regards to the streamers from the Irish sea that at times have seemed to appear from nowhere....are conditions looking like being right for them to keep forming over the next day or so ????
