  1. I would rather remove my eyes with a teaspoon than use Metcheck mate. Im not going to say anything bar .... Type metcheck followed by the P word that Jimmy Saville is accused of into your search engine and you`ll see why ! On topic now ..... Over the years our region has always done best when we have cold air in situ and the atlantic tries to smash through but stalls. Lets get the cold air across first and then at some point the snow will hopefully follow and sit over us for days on end lol. Too many people on this site take every run as gospel and get elated /deflated and its annoying to read at times........the good thing is though we got our own thread now and theres not much whingeing in here compared to other threads :-) Keep up the good work all and our time will come soon hopefully ;-)
  2. really high based as the flashes were bright but the thunder was very distant. It lit the sky up blue which is a new one for me as the only other time I witnessed t/s it was pink. Still a light covering here and I wish I had my HD cam to attach to my rc plane to get some aerial footage of Norton with snowcover :-(
  3. Covering of snow here now and 2 flashes of high based lightening :-P heaviest falling snow ive seen all winter here.
  4. I was up by Sainsburys in Cannock watching the storm rumble away and it looked like a good one with frequent lightning and booming thunder over you guys:good: . Then at about 7.50 things went quiet and all of a sudden one of the biggest bolts of lightning I have ever seen in my life came down over the Walsall / Willenhall area  It was surreal and seemed to take all of the energy in the sky with it, the best way to describe it would be like a funnel of lightning concentrated into one bolt, it flashed about 4 or 5 times and looked absolutely huge even from the distance I was away If that hit a house then I can only pray to god that no one died because it looked like it would have taken the foundations from the house!!! Could this have been some sort of discharge as there was nothing else after this ??????
  5. One thing I have noticed that is quite amazing to see is the amount of what must be sattelites moving across the sky On Saturday night I was fishing and lay outside on my bedchair and must have seen more than 20 objects and a few of these seemed to be pulsing as they moved too. I was always under the impression that you could only see these for 15 seconds or so but you can virtually follow most of them to the horizon. Also saw 4 shooting stars including one that streaked straight across and was really vivid and fairly slow moving compared to others i have seen And no I had'nt been drinking If you can get away from any light pollution you should be able to see them on a clear night.
  6. Hence the word transient in the original post We should see a few hours maybe of snow and if theres not much rain behind then it may stay around till the morning at least. I want some warm weather now I've had enough of winter lol
  7. GFS shows an area of snow for tomorrow evening around the Birmingham north areas of the midlands http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/daten/proficharts/en/2010/02/22/basis12/ukuk/prty/10022400_2212.gif 528 dam looks to be around the England Scotland border http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn303.png and dew points look the wrong side of marginal http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn3010.png though I suppose these could be dragged down with any evap cooling and plus the fact that there will be no solar heating should help to !!! If the GFS accumulation charts are to be believed then we should all see a covering of snow anyway an interesting day tomorrow but it may all change on tonights runs and remove any snow risk or hopefully it may upgrade it and we are all in with a shout of some transient snow 12z NAE paints a snowy messy picture aswell for tomorrow evening could be interesting for some areas if that verifies
  8. NAE brings snow across the region on Sunday morning http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/daten/proficharts/en/nae/2010/02/19/basis18/ukuk/prty/10022106_1918.gif could bring a few hours snow to all if it verifies
  9. GFS precip chart bfor Monday shows snow on the leading edge GFS has been pretty accurate recently with its precip. On a few occasions the NAE and others have fell into line with it so its to early to write it off yet guys
  10. lol that is really funny Nick. The missus thinks I've gone mad laughing my head off at that picture she just asked whats so funny about it but I cant be ar**d to explain it to her
  11. I can just imagine him now scurrying around the power station shouting at the towers for ruinig his winter lol
  12. I hope that there has been some snow in Rugely as Radders aint been on for a while. Unless there has been a little bit and hes scurrying round putting it in his freezer whilst muttering "my precious" lol
  13. Out of curiosity mate which radar do you feel is better out of Meteox and Raintoday? I like the layout of raintoday but find Meteox more accurate???
  14. NAE and NMM models are good within the 24 hour range but recently when its been further out than this GFS has performed better imo. Remember when we were all expecting the snow to be further to the east and then last night the NAE completely shifted the area and put us in the firing line? GFS had that area nailed and then the others fell in line.
  15. NAE looks like it could bring a period of snow on Saturday though as it has stepped into line with the GFS recently I know where my money is To be fair to the GFS it has been one of those difficult to call days though and if you check out yesterdays snow accumulation charts I think you'll find its been pretty much bang on the money today
  16. I'll drink to that sir. GFS precip charts are having none of it for Saturday and rain looks more likely for Sunday. See what the NAE brings????????????
  17. We get proper aeroplanes here in Birmingham mate. The type that land at your airport we keep them at Cosford museum we do mate !!!!!!!! LOLO just kidding pal
  18. Or under 18's and over 18's with the emphasis with the emoticons on the under 18's one consisting largely of dummies and rattles lol
  19. You need some Head And Snowlders for that mate!!! I'll get my coat lol
  20. GFS precip chart for Saturday Round 2 anyone ???????????? lol
  21. I live about 6 miles or so away from you buddy, I know, but you cant keep all of the people happy for all of the time. whingeing aint really contributing a great deal to the thread though is it ?? Its a discussion board mate, every time I read one of your posts I can hear Suicide Is Painless by the Manic Street Preachers in my head lol Theres always next year for us mate chin up lol
  22. The forecast is for the cold air to start wrapping itself around the north of the low later on and create plenty of snow so its way to early to start whinging yet but I notice that its the same people who always whinge on here rather than being mature and being appreciative that anyone in our area is getting any snow Its way to early to write it off yet and I think all will see snow fall at some point with the central across to the eastern regions in particular faring better than most. In fact I'll go as far as saying that the east mids should get a right pasting this evening and tonight. I dont think that the likes of myself and nick or anyone else for that matter in the Staffordshire area will see as much as those further east but it was never forecast to be that way anyway so we cant really complain. Good luck to all who do see some snow and make sure you can get some pictures up so that the whingeing minority have even more reason to feel hard done by lol
  23. Dont know if anyone knows but throughout the day on radio WM they usually have Ben Rich (BBC Weather guy) on every hour or so to give in depth updates and advice on any bad weather. If you can bear Ed Doolan for a few hours ( yeah I know it aint great listening to old far*s whingeing lol) its probably the best source of bbc info if you cant get to a computer
