  1. Here temps on the slow slide now at 5.0°C and dewpoint -0.8°C ....not expecting anything of note but its keeping me interested Cheers ! John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  2. Couldn't agree more ! I'm sure we wont have to wait too long for the next 'interesting' wintry spell Looking forward to rejoining you all then ! Cheers for now John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  3. Heck its stll snowing here. There has been some snow melt overnite and had it been a tad colder we would be talking 6" here. Prob just a couple instead but I would imagine a lot more higher up. Its toboggan time ! John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  4. Was expecting it to be the other way round with your elevation but this keeps intensifying as it hits the valley here - though I would think the Forest of Dean is getting a real beating judging from radar. I am not much above sea level here yet its hammered it down relentlessly for a couple of hours. Shame ground was so wet to begin with but its an even coating everywhere and even main roads are covered. God help us if it ices over later in the clear slots forecast ! Be careful out there ! John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  5. And its heaving (for want of a better adjective) it down here ! Just luving it (hmm - I can smell a big mac coming up) White out conditions now - so god knows what its like up in them thar hills ! John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down) p.s. We are spoilt here !
  6. Tried - but keep falling sideways John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  7. She's a coming !!!! Enjoy all ! John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  8. Just send it this way o.k. Jjudging from the NAE - Gloucester could again be in the sweet spot ... There is some uncertainty regarding location/intensity of the snow later... so no complacency here.. just anicipation ! Had a few cm's early hours today which was a nice surprise though there has been some melt. Just back from the top of the Cotswolds - minor roads forget it ! . Good luck all ! (might be the last chance before the atlantic breaks through over w/end ?) John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  9. Congrats to everyone in the east and hope it keeps going for you ! We had our fair share in the west so nice to see it shared around Cheers ! John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  10. You're lucky ! Mine wont even go out in the stuff At least I can take my daughter up to Painswick (when she gets ready !! ) Unexpected bit of snow (albeit light) today ! John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  11. Well, well, well ... we have had light snow for the last hour here. Prob more flurries than anything. but a nice surprise before I hit the toboggan slopes of Painswick Beacon with my daughter. I wonder how much more west this system (over on the east side) will develop ? Cheers ! John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  12. Having the thickest snow of this spell - but radar shows hardly anything above us. Who cares.. bring it on... John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down) p.s. Earlier pic with the toboggans all primed and ready for the slopes of..... Painswick Beacon https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-TAyHwy9FgUI/UPlefCzRzSI/AAAAAAAALvE/dENtGSavGm0/s640/DSCN1135.JPG
  13. ..and still it continues to snow here Never been blizzard like or huge flakes but constant and now up to 5 or 6cm (which is a lot for us down here next to the river Severn) Prob major probs up on the Cotswolds and Forest of Dean ! Pics later Just lovin it ! John ( a young 58 year old !) in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down) p.s. As if on cue.. big flakes !
  14. Its been heaving down here in Quedgeley last 45 mins ! Recent footprints in garden now disappeared. You should be having the same Cheers ! John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  15. Good morning everyone ! Yawn. Hey - 5 hrs sleep - that'll do - plus I still get paid for not being able to work today - that'll do ! (well if the boss says its to dangerous to drive then who am I to argue ) Meantime... snow has set in for the day it seems- will measure later. For those in the Gloucestershire are this is a very useful 'incidents' map.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/gloucestershire At the moment I see there are 3 'incidents' all snow related.. and I suspect the map will be full of the same symbols in 12 hours time. Enjoy all ! John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down) p.s. Right lets check out the sledges....
  16. A few are putting up temps and dew points including me. I'm not a techie so not sure how it works.. I found this site http://www.sciencebits.com/SnowProbCalc?calc=yes where you can input temperature and relative humidity to calculate whether it will snow.. but I was looking for one where you could input temp and dew point to calculate the same. (as I dont have a measure for relative humidity) Someone put me right on this subject - and if you have a link to such a site please provide Meantime... still flurries here but not settling (till later ) John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  17. Here in Gloucester temp is 2.0°C and dew point -4.1°C That will do for now Still a few flakes blowing about before 'the main event' Good luck all ! John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  18. Dont panic, Mr Mannering ! (o.k. it was Mainwaring) Its gonna be a big event for sure - for many of us ! Actually I reckon a bit of gospel is in order "And the lord said ..Let it Snow !!" "Do you hear me lord ?" "Lord are you there ?" "I said.. Let it Snow !" "Lord - I'll say it louder" "LET IT SNOW !!" I feel so much better now John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down) p.s. And the lord responded with at least 3 flurries under lamp post. True. (there is a lord !) Not bad coming from an agnostic (er... hope I havent offended anybody here......)
  19. Permission to ramp now ? Oh My God ! Come to Daddyo ! Get in there ! Lamp post watch tomorrrow and daughter up from Bristol to do the first watch :-) Good luck everyone. John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  20. Wouldnt give up hope too early peeps. Surely the northern edge is favoured and as it clears through.....? Dont anyone ask me about 'uppers' - I'm not that learned. Still appears to be pepping up in the source area mind ? Maybe those north of Bristol will get surprised later Maybe those getting rain at the mo will be likewise... ? Over to the experts ! John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  21. She's hijacked my login ! (get yer own daughter ! ) John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  22. This is johns daughter in Clifton... Lots of rain with snow mixed into it! But mostly rain...
  23. My daughter (another weather nut) is down in Clifton down Bristol way and frantically logging on here... (when she sets up her account that is ) You aint gonna pinch mine ok ! They always say the best snow events are often the ones you least expect (which has probably put the death knell on anything happening tonite now ! ) Good luck Bristolians and others !! John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  24. Well I have heard of the Cheshire gap streamer but this appears to be an Anglesey one Good luck to those who are in its sights - Bristol over to W.S.M looks favoured ? Certainly has intensified but how far will its tentacles stretch ? Not sure if elevation is a big player here - but here in Gloucester temp is 1.7 and dewpoint is -4.4 - but then we are presently in a clear slot. Might get sideswiped later and who knows maybe the Cheshire gap streamer will come into play... Cheers ! John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)
  25. Temp 4.6°C and dewpoint -0.2°C as at 5pm Certainly lots of shower activity to the north west but probably need to be a few hundred feet up to see any real wintryness.. Still, its worth keeping the lamp post watch on John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down) p.s. Exciting times ahead though - especially back end of the week !
