  1. Dunno i haven't been through Kim'by recently, i live near IKEA and the main roads around there are fine. Your brave going through Moorgreen with those 'hairpins' by the resevoir :shok:

Haha yeah, the climb up the hill just after that is "interesting" too :shok:

I use some backroads too near Giltbrook, and come out near the Ram Inn.

  2. NAE model going for widespread snowfall during Sunday night into Monday. I think at this stage I can safely say this will be nowhere near as good as Tuesday in terms of snowfall. At the moment I would say moderate-heavy snowfall will affect the Midlands around the early hours of Monday, moreso southern and eastern counties, and in these regions 2-5cm is possible. Further north and west into the west Midlands, I think it's best not to discuss potential snowfalls, but just be glad that snowfall looks likely during this period.

Overall, I'm not too fussed. These past few days have been great! Watching some heavy or very heavy snowfall at times during Tuesday morning and in the evening, and getting to see a minimum temp of -10C recorded in two consecutive nights. Definitely one of the coldest winters here in many years. And still, we have considerable snowcover everywhere and looks to stay there for a few more days yet, before "milder" (not mild) conditions set in.

Let's hope we can get more significant snowfall during this Winter!

A lot of people are saying that *when* the breakdown comes (be it next week or the week after) that's pretty much it for this winter... there's a whole stream of SWerlies coming in

  3. A quick reply to Butler_Son's post of me having a sensible Facebook picture up, now you guys should know by now that I am FAR from being sensible or rational! lol!!! Who the heck puts their house of for sale to move to a place for better weather??? albeit only one of the reasons, but still!

Now that the server has recovered from my profile seeking extravaganza...wub.gif

Check out this latest radar image!!!! Will it be a "close shave" for Nottingham!!! rofl.gif

You just wait... it will part like the red sea just before it gets here

  4. Also, for those looking at the charts. Never (like I did) forget to look at the ensembles T2M tables. Seriously, bar 2-3 days at about 1oC, max temps are looking at no more than 0oC until next weekend, with some back up from the ECM ensembles.

It looks like, forgetting the snow, it will remain chilly.

Have you not been in the model thread this morning? Good agreement between most that the cold period is coming to an end around Wednesday/Thursday next week.

  5. Lol!!!! I trust me, I just don't really trust others on the roads!!!!!! I am a very good driver believe me, besides, at least I get to watch the countryside in a blanket of snow from the sheer comfort of the bus lol!!!!laugh.gif

I heard ilkeston had a bit, and I think it was much the same down here, Tuesday nights downpour was fab, but now it is just like compact ice everywhere!!!!!

It would be great if we get a decent amount over the weekend, all I want to do is run about with the dog in the fields in the snow lol!!!!!biggrin.gif

Yeah there are crazy people on the roads around here. Plenty of white van men up your behind! Er...

You sound more excited than the dog will be! He won't be able to keep up with you! :good:

  6. Helloooooo Everybody!!!!!

Good to see some more Notts people on here!!! I'm in Long Eaton and we didn't get too much snow, but enough to put me off driving to work for the rest of the week lol!!!!! so an hour and a half each morning on the bus it is!!!!!!

Earlier in the week there was talk of a big event for Friday night, is this what is now predicted for Sunday/Monday? Are we in for a good dumping, or a light flurie??!!!!!!!

    pardon.gif

I'm from Ilkeston, Tues was bad, but apart from that it's been ok!

If you can't trust yourself to drive around with 1 inch on the fields next to the road, please warn us in this topic before you next take to the wheel! :D

We should do reasonably well out of the weekend :)

Probably about the same as earlier this week.

  7. I would certainly keep an eye on the system to our east/south-east.

Ideally, we need this system to push more inland. At a rough estimate looking at the charts, the flow of the ppn, may change more north to south later.

It might be interesting, so keep you eyes peeled on the radar.

To our SE? Isn't that just heading further south ?

The precip building to our NE in the north sea heading towards Newcastle and Boro looks interesting
