  1. Normally school holidays are always raining and during school time its nicer! This time it's the other way round
  2. Another big hailstorm here, everything is white again :-) noticed four trees down on our journey to tenterden, one being a huge fir which had gone right across the road into the field. And Hexden channel river is over again too
  3. Things are nice and happy in the severe atlantic storms thread. NOT.After a brief period of lighter winds the roar outside has now returned. On the way to college this morning the small river/large stream near here was back down to its normal levels, 6 hours later and it had burst its banks after just 12mm of rain had fallen, which I've never seen happen in 8 years. It shows that even a relatively small amount of rain is seriously bad right now..
  4. Wind is roaring away outside, I've got my window open that is pretty stiff and a gust of wind just forced it wide open - I best keep it shut! Lights have started dimming every now and again here. I'm not sure what it was but something fairly big just went flying past my window and made a huge thud as it hit against something?!
  5. Rain here is really bad, I've never seen everywhere flooded as bad as it is now! Already seen a small tree down too, stay safe everyone
  6. I think the BBC news presently likes using the word 'HEAVY' Heavy winds Heavy flooding Heavy seas Heavy rain She must have used it at least 30 times since I've been watching
  7. According to the radar parts of south west wales have seen an inch of rain just in the last hour!Latest update shows around 32mm of rain in an hour. That's more than we have had all day. Cant imagine all that in an hour here right now.
  8. Wow! I stupidly decided to go for a walk across the fields. Even the gravel path downhill into the field had turned into a river with a cm or two of water running down it. I was going to go stand on the bridge overlooking a 2/3ft wide stream that is normally only a few inches in depth. I got within sight of the stream and decided not to go any further as the strength of the water looked too frightening - It had risen by at least three feet and was like a scene you see during a flash flood. I love going out in the car looking at all the floods, but being that close to something with such strength was scary! 21mm of rain here today with plenty more to come
  9. Thankfully my bus was on time - for once. Local stream is well over again this afternoon.7mm of rain here in the last hour.
  10. It is absolutely tipping it down! Our road is completely flooded. And now I've got to go catch a bus in it..
  11. Yes. Tomorrows rain is looking very concerning, hopefully things don't turn out as bas as is currently being predicted, but it's not looking great for many currently. We have had almost 40mm of rain in the past 2 days!
  12. Oh God - My facebook is full of people worrying over tomorrow/Saturdays winds -.- Everyone is sharing a page from the express saying there is going to be 150mph winds. So misleading.
  13. Wow! The rain has now stopped and there is the brightest, most well defined rainbow I've ever seen outside my front door!
  14. Still raining here, we had a bit of sleet in a heavier burst last night. We had 27mm of rain up to midnight yesterday and another 5mm has fallen so far today
  15. There was definite splodges of wet snow on the windscreen just now on the way home.It has been pouring with rain most of the night and all morning. The small river/stream down the back lane is over and has flooded the lane in a foot of muddy water.
  16. Just been on facebook and found out my cousins old barn has toatally collapsed and that the roof off of their new barn has blown off!!His dad is a fireman and is currently at a house where the roof and part of the walls have came down. A dangerous storm!
  17. Been to Whitstable today and there is still a lot of water lying around everywhere. On the way home around 4 I was admiring the orangey/pink sky around and thinking about the shepherds delight thingy and what weather we had coming for tomorrow. Just as we were entering Ashford there was the brightest of flashes across the sky, I wasn't sure whether it was lightning or something to do with the trains at the time, but a couple of minutes later huge drops of rain started coming down and I guessed there was a storm around. We stopped off at good old Tesco and there was another big flash and an almost instant shotgun-type thunderclap, this set off a really loud security alarm in Tesco which continued for around 5 minutes. Whilst paying I looked outside and saw another flash and also heard a long crack of thunder. We had a nice run to the car in the pouring rain and started off back home. There was tree debris scattered all over the roads. In one area looking into a wooded area I noticed that several trees had snapped just under half way up, I was now thinking that the storm we just had must have been pretty severe. Coming back into Tenterden we were flashed by two cars. Up ahead a tree had fallen down blocking the other side of the road. Just as we were going past the tree a small van coming the other way came past at the exact same time and drove straight into it!! The damage was a few large dents and a smashed windscreen, luckily no one was hurt. Another big tree had fallen in Rolvenden and was in the process of being moved out of the way when we went past. It was certainly an exciting journey! And I'm 90% sure that I saw a funnel cloud on the way home too!
  18. Lights are flickering like mad here and the electric just flicked off and on again. Same happening in Cranbrook 5 miles from here. Just as the river levels near here start going back to normal more heavy rain starts to fall - Typical.
  19. I was in Hastings earlier and the rain was torrential for around 15-20minutes and was fairly heavy for around 40
  20. Hexden river which runs into the rother has just burst its banks for the hundredth time this month.. I also just saw water squirting two feet into the air out of a drain! There is water everywhere!
  21. Been fishing at elphicks since yesterday afternoon. All evening I heard distant rumbles of thunder every few minutes. The wind was bad as well. I was woken by a tree cracking and falling to the ground at about 1am and this morning another tree came down followed quickly by 3 others just after. A pretty wild time And didn't catch a thing, thank god I had the weather to keep me entertained!
