  1. I tend to turn it off in my VW Tiguan too! I wish you didn't have to turn it off every time you start the ignition though (I need to find someone with the VW software and cables!)
  2. Well just drove to the middle of nowhere down some country lanes in Rettendon/Chelmsford way and couldn't see them North of me is Chelmsford and just too much light pollution! I'll have a look just from my street at midnight when the local streetlights turn off. Only 2.5'C out in those country lanes, 4'C in my garden. That sewerage flood looks horrendous! Very brown
  3. Lots of reports of the Northern Lights being visible as far South as Essex and South Wales all over Twitter! https://twitter.com/chasethestorm/status/439139401911009280/photo/1 I'm going out for a look, even though I don't have much chance at all here! https://twitter.com/ObservingSpace/status/439154684448624640/photo/1 http://www.softservenews.com/Aurora.htm
  4. I'm not going to bother lamppost watching... I'll just have to find something more productive to do....like sleep! I wonder how much time I've wasted over the years watching a bright orange light Temp's dropped by over 8'C since mid afternoon to 5.3'C now. The forecast is 3'C and bone dry. Looks nasty heading in towards the channel at the moment on the old radar! Depending on the amount of rain tomorrow I might venture onto the garden this weekend to lower my weather station a bit as since I moved it up higher on a pole it shakes in strong winds and produces rain readings even when dry (it's reported 44cm of rain just in Feb ), but the bog of a garden has been a no go zone this year!
  5. Hi all, been away from the forums for a week or two. Went to Wales (Porthcawl) over the weekend bit didn't see too many flooded fields from the M4. Weather's been quite nice of late! Actually been out at lunch at work in just my shirt - no jacket which was nice. Just had a few gusts just now though and my parents in Wexford are worrying about strong winds after my dad started putting up their fences today after it was completely destroyed over the last few weeks. Doesn't seem too bad on my dad's weather station so far though. I've given up giving people forecasts though as I keep looking the fool. Once moment it's "oooh might be a nice week this week" then it rains. Or "oooh looking colder next week - even the odd wintry shower!" then it rains and stays over 10'C :|
  6. Supposed frost tonight and the roads have been gritted, yet it's 5.5'C and almost quite nice out
  7. Finally found a parking space near work next door to the Gherkin when some bloke comes out with a camera saying don't park there!! Look up and he's taking a photo of a huge pane of glass hanging by a thread 8 floors up above the car! Needless to say I've moved the car now.... bet I get a ticket now though for parking not in a bay.
  8. Managed to get a little sleep... Driving to London now for work, hope the roads are ok. Still gusty outside!
  9. Well I've been woken by some roaring winds. About to get up to watch out the window and it's all gone quiet!
  10. I'm not happy, in fact I'm quite sad makes my blood boil. How do people even come up with these ideas? I would never dream of it in a million years!Edit ha auto correct really confusing me there with f f s
  11. My sheltered weather station had just had its highest gust of the day at 29MPH. Considering 30odd is the highest ever, I guess it's quite windy at home.
  12. Well it is Friday. And it's after work so sod it. I would rather be in somewhere safe having a drink than outside, so BEER PLEASE
  13. Spoke to my parents in Wexford earlier - last 24 hours they've had power on and off, no phone line, no Internet, no mobile phone access on either of two networks they have phones for. At least all is OK in my neck of the woods!
  14. Just looking at the winds on xcweather and it's mad now how I don't think 76MPH is bad. Become numb to this bad weather!
  15. Yeah, no one should ever be afraid to post. I'm not a weather expert and just post what I can... it might not be far off 'the stone is wet' or 'the stone is white' (if only) type of thing (see below!) and I've never felt unwelcome
  16. Yeah sky here looked heavy but ended up just tipping it down. The temp dropped to 4'C triggering ice alarm in the car on the way to the station though.
  17. Also, seen next Wednesday's forecast? I know it's way far away but not looking good... http://www.xcweather.co.uk/forecast/ss6 Sorry I rarely adventure out of this thread... Big scary world out there! (And also I'll be here all day long)
  18. Documentary on Florida's sink hole problem on the other day http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03tz705
  19. It's the end of the world - http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/three-terror-storms-horizon-108mph-3139897#.Uvv8FJ_fE0k.facebook
  20. Looks like it's on its way to me now. Winds making the house creak just then! Mum just texted saying proper power cut now in Wexford...
