  6. Theres a picture in the hexham courant window of a double decker driving along the tyne valley with snow up to the top of it from the 1960 sometime. That would be fun! The 14.30 radar shows a bit in the north sea developing into 16-32mms and its heading straight for us. Lets hope it intensifyes! Had an inch in just 10 minutes here!
  7. Does anyone know how much snow would 1 hours of 1mm rainfall produce?
  8. I was in Basingstoke that night before xmas when the "Snowstorm of the decade" hit. It was terrible. So much snow! 3 inches you should of seen it! 4 inches of snow in the south= 4 foot of snow in the north !
  9. I hope so. 25 miles from coast here and it would be good if we could all share a big dumping to get the south off the headlines!
  10. Possibly 1 or 2 but nothing very heavy to reach cumbria she said my guess it will be on a knifes edge anywhere more than 10 miles from the east coast
  11. Look north said heavy and prolonged snow showers starting around 1500 today and right through to 1600 Wednesday stretching right down the coast and about 30 miles inland.
  12. -2.7 here and judging by the sky any minute now should start. If look north (ITN now agreeing) are right it could be a massive event!
  13. no thats ovington from my sisters in mickley. was picking her kids up to come sledging on the hills near whittonstall where i live. some great sledging here Cloud building here but seems to be taking forever to move closer Look norths latest forcast looks very good. 24 hours of heavy snow showers from berwick to humber and inland as far as Allendale from 1600 today!
  14. Cloud building to the NE from here as well. Surely this cant be yet another let down. Its looking very promising, although shouldnt complain with the 10 inches already on the ground!
  15. About an inches and a half here overnight. Total of 11 inches on the ground now. 20th day of a complete covering here now!
  16. Isnt it funny how a lot of us up here have had 8-10 inches on the gound since new years day which got no mention on national news or weather. Now the south is forcast for 3-4 inches and its headline news! Had a dusting here over night of about and inches and a half. We always seem to get our biggest snow amounts in showers here. Anyway off onto the massive sledge run now! On the 10am met radar a hint of the showers intensifying over the north sea heading straight for us!
  17. If this is to be believed we could still have a big event! http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/pws/invent/weathermap/
  18. On the south side so never see the sun all winter. Not sure how mowden hall area is doing but heard the A69 is passable with care!

  21. Snowed in for the 4th day now in the Tynevalley. Had snow on the ground for 18 days in a row now and currently 10 inches at -7. Maybe it will be nearer 2 foot by the end of the week if the met office is right!
