  1. Yep, agree - no doubt about that. Everything playing out as forecasted. Can't see why the stall will be any different.
  2. Morning all Never doubted it! Temp 3.5c at 0130hrs. 0.1c now. A good 2-3 inches already and this thing is going to crawl all over us for hours yet. School is closed but i'm going to walk the three miles in to get the A level exams started. Shocking luck for them (and me!) Exams on a 'snowday.'
  3. 6 degree difference in dew point across Cornwall. Plymouth -1c.
  4. This thing is going to crawl all over us for hours. Look how little progress on radar the feature from earlier today has made in the cold air.
  5. Very cold air now flooding from continent. Reports of Dew points of -6 across the English Channel! Expect very steep gradients with your temperatures very soon.
  6. Just dropping in to say good luck to you all. I'm sure we're all going to get battered by this event. Latest NAE shows some uber snow for your region too. As far as the current temps are concerned, don't worry too much. I'm in the METO red bullseye and i've still got +3.1C.
  7. "Hello Mr. South Easterly, i've been expecting you!" Just been to the top of Bedwas mountain with my reliable weather station (wet finger) and can confirm that the South Easterly is swinging into action. Maybe ESE?
  8. A bit on the chilly side Monday lunchtime then. Can't see tomorrows snow going far! (These are min temps)
  9. Pretty much nailed on for all of Wales. Look forwards to hearing snow depth reports by tomorrow night! Let's have a bet on where the sweetspot will be (outside of Beacons, Cambrians and Snowdonia). I'll start off by going for Eastern Gwent Valleys - Pontypool, Blaenavon, Abergavenny..
  10. NAE 12z just calculating. This is +42hrs only now!!! BELIEVE.
  11. The block is showing its teeth today outside. Feeling noticeably colder than of late. Veil of cloud and mist blocking the sun which did some damage to settled hill snow yesterday. Surely a good sign for a potential stall. East Wales and the valleys could be in line for a battering according to GFS.
  12. Snow on the French Atlantic Coast way south for Wed. That's got to be pretty unusual. With a weaker block, would we be getting some of this?
  13. Half an hour of moderate snow in Machen, Caerphilly. Not settling in valley and easing now. +1.5c.
  14. A little dusting remaining above 250m on Mynydd Machen at 9am this morning. Fingers crossed for the snowline to drop another 150m over the next 48hrs. I skied from the top, literally to my front door in Dec 2010. Don't think we'll get those depths again but would settle for a few cm down into the valley out of this.
  15. Where's Jamie? If you're out there, how do you see this developing?
  16. Thanks Jamie, brilliant analysis as always. Keep us informed.
  17. Thanks J1. Really hoping that the ppn falls as snow above 1600m at Alpe D'Huez this week.
  18. Alpe d'Huez. Sat 11 - Sat 18 Feb. Cheers!
  19. I've run out of patience with this lame winter. Heading to the Alps on the annual mass exodus with thousands of others. Any predictions for Savoie / Isere Jackone? cheers!
  20. Persistent snow here in Machen. -0.5 c and sticking like the preverbial to a blanket. A couple more hours of this will leave a couple of inches. Let's go and enjoy it before we're back to drizzle.
  21. Have already closed my school for tomorrow, we are having an absolute battering with the addition of what looks like more than half still to come. The three mile journey to open up for exams is looking like a hike rather than a drive. Should be an interesting morning out there!
  22. A468 between Newport and Caerphilly at a total standstill in Machen. 10 miles NE of Cardiff, there's a chance this thing's going to crawl all over us all night!
  23. thanks Andy, I pretty much agree with you. We could probably run the exams considering that all of the students live within 3 miles of the school. We could certainly staff them with willing staff who live very local to the school. However, a central postponement decision from the WJEC and associated boards would be the best solution for all and not discriminate against kids and families with potential accessibility problems. Anyone else think we're looking at a major couple of events?
