  1. 25cm on the Wirral. Surely, surely not. Has it gone off on one?
  2. Euro4 didn’t get things going for you into very late in the night. Not saying it’s guaranteed but anything before midnight was a bonus.
  3. Actually Altrincham is about to get a moderate shower so my comment hasn’t aged well
  4. Fellow Mancunians - I doubt we’ll get any snow until the early hours , maybe even as late as 4 or 5am. (Based on Euro4 anyway)
  5. Fingers crossed for you!!!! Sounds like you’re both in the mend, or getting there at least. Wishing you all the best.
  6. Euro4... does however have Sunday’s feature missing us entirely.
  7. As others have said, the 12z EURO4 is an absolute peach. This is a very good test for this model - if it turns out correct , most of the NW will have lying snow by tomorrow morning, with a decent covering even on the Wirral. Don’t want to get my hopes up but I have found this model to be very very good at identifying Irish Sea convection and streamers. The general premise is a streamer through the Wirral and Manchester by 4am tomorrow (slightly further north in the early hours before sinking south) , then more widespread snow showers through the day tomorrow. you can see by the evening Manchester has a very good covering indeed.
  8. Still a fairly convincing signal for a streamer on the 06z EURO4. Precipitation distribution and timing remind me of 30th Jan 2019.
  9. I’d be surprised if that’s a consideration to be honest, the surface winds at least are extremely light, only 4 mph. Near enough as calm as can be on Sunday.
  10. FWIW I don’t think Sunday looks like a shadow situation. It’s more of a problem (I think) when there’s a very keen SE’ly surface wind.
  11. Hahahahhahaa. My least two favourite words. “Southeasterly wind” .
  12. The MetO app is showing an unusually high number of snow symbols for this weekend. Rather than take these as gospel we can assume the general signal is quite strong.
  13. Yes a very strong snow signal from Euro4 (accumulating). Always a good sign. Looking from frame to frame it appears to be picking up on a streamer sinking south? Always take note when Euro 4 shows darker pinks.
  14. If we do get a streamer tomorrow night , whilst they are amazing to experience if you’re under them, they can be soooo frustrating if you’re not well placed. All depends on the wind direction - a NW’ly will push it further south towards Cheshire, a SW’ly will push it further north towards Lancs. I’d like a perfect westerly/WNW’ly vector please. I’ll leave that one to the experts.
  15. 12z EURO4 snow accumulation. This is Saturday evening. Quite a strong snow signal for many parts of the region , especially Manchester. Most of this seems to fall Friday night into early Saturday. Very interesting - I think this model is fairly good at picking up shower and streamer potential.
  16. I think yesterday/last night will be etched in the memory for quite some time to come. Not just the incessant rain, but the sudden drop in temperature and the sudden transition from heavy rain to heavy snow from west to east across the NW. A fascinating weather event. As it turns out, Didsbury and Northenden was a very, very close call. Despite Manchester being a wet city, I’ve never in my 34 years of living heard of a major River Mersey flood event in south Manchester. Thankfully it didn’t happen last night but it came extremely, extremely close. Makes me wonder if the few hours of heavy snow stalled a lot of the runoff temporarily and prevented a catastrophic flood event. What a night
