  1. Hiya isleofwightgal, Just a few flecks about today but as you say we've had loads so can't complain! I'm looking at the south west thread as well; it's good fun there too although I haven't posted anything. They have heavy snow forecast Tues/Wed and I think it's the backend of that which is forecast to possibly reach us but I doubt it. The model thread is good too as they're saying the temperatures will be too high so any snow will be marginal (far south west only) if at all (it looks like a lot of liquid coming our way anyway but most likely rain). Who knows? Part of the fun....
  2. I agree with you re Tuesday/Wednesday - it's just too 'warm' - midlands will possibly get hit but I'd almost put money on it being a no show. I notice a very knowledgeable chap on met monkey says the same thing so I expect to see the advisories removed tomorrow although we were only yellow anyway (beats me why they updated it this afternoon and didn't take them off then!) As you say plenty of time left for some more; at least we got some compared to others.
  3. Agree with you there - I notice we have an advisory on Tuesday and Wednesday now for possible snow. Hmmm, not sure especially as other threads think it will be rain and midlands will get the snow. Have to say that Met Office were spot on Tuesday afternoon putting us in the red zone but that was much closer to the actual event i.e. few hours as opposed to few days!
  4. Good stuff! Great to see them fall prettily down to the ground! Nothing here now but not expecting anything so that's ok.
  5. Not looking good for us extreme south coasters is it lol! I love the snow but just finished shovelling it off the drive - don't fancy doing that again in a hurry!
  6. I know what you mean but fair play to them for downgrading publicly so to speak. Really can't see Wednesday coming off for us. Still the odd flake flying about in Horndean here... bless..!!
  7. Certainly showing as rain on Wednesday at the moment with temps of 5C! The dusting overnight has melted now but at least it will help when we clear the drive later!
  8. Not sure Coxxy - I know that Devon/Cornwall are getting hammered at the moment and the south east haven't got what was predicted - we seem to have a blank here in the middle! Very very fine on/off sleet and drizzle here in Horndean.
  9. Morning southernskies - not sure about today, far SW are getting heavy snow but doubt that will work its way to us. Seems to be a lot of disagreement regarding the weather forecasts from BBC etc so I'm just chilling out (literally!) and keeping an eye on outside. Had very light sleety stuff on and off now so can't see it amounting to much.
  10. Morning everyone, Kiwi - I think we've had a small amount overnight; it's covered our path again with about .5cm. Loved reading everyone's posts esp IOW ones. It's started snowing very gently in Horndean with small flakes; similar to yesterday evening.
  11. Off to bed now - goodnight everyone and happy snow dreams lol!
  12. Stormboy - beautifully put! I've also read Blast from the Past comments with interest as I don't discount anything. Fabulous times and even if I didn't see anymore snow I will always treasure Tuesday night......
  13. This week was absolutely amazing wasn't it?!! To think we had a met office red 'take action' right over our region was extraordinary as I haven't seen many of those over the country! I was lucky enough to be in the midlands last weekend where it snowed heavily too so I've had more than my fair share but it just leaves you wanting more doesn't it...... Coxxy - you're right I haven't got a clue!!! Just had a quick peek outside and mostly clear skies! Off to bed in a mo so look forward to what tomorrow may or may not bring!
  14. I absolutely love the optimism - keep it up!!! It's much better than getting too downbeat. When things go milder/summer comes we can get excited about thunderstorms! I can't decide which I like most, snow or thunder - both on a par with each other I think!!
  15. You're right - there's always hope! It was raining in Portmouth on Tuesday evening and I decided to drive a few miles to see my mum in Horndean but took my 'cold weather kit' as advised by met office etc e.g. blankets, hot drink, fully charged mobile, full tank of fuel, fully inflated tyres blah blah and lo and behold got stuck on A3 for 5 hours in very heavy snow but I was sorted!!
  16. Mammoth? Not that I'm aware of although it's great weather for it! Central southern england seems to get left out of quite a few things which is why I was grateful for our snowstorm on Tuesday even though it was initially forecast for 70 miles west!! As you say, some areas of the country seem to be in for potentially some nasty conditions next week but our south coast region will see rain or sleet at best. However, when I only have to travel a couple of miles to walk along the beach in the summer, or visit my nan who lives right on the beach so I usually have my tea and biscuits sitting on the shore lol I think myself lucky to live where I do!!
  17. Thanks Flyer - after a few glasses of wine I'm having trouble getting my head round it all! Seen so many conflicting reports everywhere it's hard to know what's going to happen. I think we may get some very light snow tomorrow morning and perhaps some flurries mid week although being so close to the coast, it could be rain instead. Apologies if there are any typos, I blame it firmly on my chardonnay!! Stormboy - you have me intrigued (unless I've had too much chardonnay and imagined reading your post lol!!!)
  18. Hi, Dead as the proverbial dodo in Horndean at the moment (apart from the wind and a strange noise from my living room which I'm not keen to investigate as it sounds like a man laughing but I'm the only one in!!!!)
  19. To be honest not sure where it's coming from - probably the trees!! Either way, light and persistent seems to be the order of the day well at the moment anyway.
  20. Just about to have egg, bacon, beans, toast and wine (and in that order lol!) Small flakes flying along even faster now.
  21. Still the most minutest flakes/grains in Horndean - all going sideways due to the wind!
  22. Very good thought and you might be right. Just braved the cold and stood outside looking upwards; the clouds are very fragmented at mo. You're welcome isleofwightsnowgal! I adore the island and attend the scooter rally every year; I've had some of the most amazing times over there!
  23. A horse called man - lol! Aldershot is further north than us so perhaps you're right with the fragmented along the coast bit! I haven't seen any weather bulletins yet but south west thread are excited because there's been an upgrade for their area in the last half hour or so. Just shows how things change. Hope IOW get some too especially as they're our neighbours.
  24. Excellent way of describing it stormforce! Badboy - no more apologies needed lol!! I've just been looking at the model thread but must admit that I don't understand much of it. Saw that you posted something, would you mind explaining it a bit if you've got time? No worries if not.
