  1. Just watching a teacher on Look East explaining his decision to keep the school shut today. His prime reason was the safety and wellbeing of pupils, or so he said. I doubt the pillock even considers the comparative risk for his pupils in sledging down hills on their unexpected days off. It's all about the compensation culture, so he should just have admitted it!
  2. There's a reasonable cover here now. Nothing like Perfect Storm et al, but by far the best of the season here and it's still falling.
  3. Here are two charts - the first showing precipitation from 6 till midday today and the second showing from 6 till midnight. As can be seen, by far the majority of snow is still to fall.
  4. Settling here nicely. It just makes me want to go the pub, this weather. Snow outside and a nice log fire. An hour till opening time...
  5. NMM also shows a risk of it being marginal on the coast, although it is less than 50%. A few miles inland and the snow risk is 100%
  6. Here is the NMM (18Z) accumulated precipitation chart until midnight tomorrow - pretty similar amounts to the NAE suggestion, posted above.
  7. Looking at this morning's charts, I think the upcoming week could be pretty unpleasant; cold, but the wrong side of marginal, especially where I live. We might have a reasonable snowfall tomorrow, but if it turns to slushy mush on Monday, it won't be worth it for me. Hopefully I'm wrong.
  8. Totally agree. with the OTT comment. I still think some of us in the east will get a bit of snow overnight, but not a huge amount.
  9. Nothing more than snizzle here, the settlement of which can just about be made out where there are wind obstructions - i.e. there is very little. This doesn't surprise me though, as the NMM model just doesn't show a major snowfall for a lot of us for the start of this weekend and it hasn't done at all, while it's been in range. I'd love it to be incorrect, don't get me wrong. That's not to say it's not too late for us to get a reasonable snowfall before tomorrow morning, but it's unlikely to be too memorable imho. I'll also await the update in a couple of hours with interest, to see what it shows for Sunday morning.
  10. The few grains that were falling have stopped. I'm actually wasting time looking for something that won't be significant here for a while. Best get on with some work till lunchtime.
  11. I've been peering (face right up to the glass) out of my window to try and catch the first sign of snow and can now report a few grains... It's a good job my office overlooks a W.I. building and not a school, as I'd probably be nicked!
  12. Hi TEITS, with regards to your estimates, are they for the period till 6 tomorrow morning, as the chart is showing? That chart looks a bit better for my area than the NMM midnight run.
  13. Do you have to decide right now? If you can delay till later, I'd say make your decision then, but if you have to decide now, I'd say go for it, with caution. I think there are major trunk roads pretty well the whole journey and I doubt they'll be too problematic in the early evening.
