  1. Our area can take a shift of this front west or east at the moment (someone else mentioned this earlier - sorry can't remember who now typing this!) as it stands so no need to be panicking about details yet. -3 uppers in this situation is ok, remember by Saturday night we've got a very decent thick cold airmass embedded so dewpoints that look marginal under normal circumstances (i.e arrivign with the cold air) in effect shouldn't be as we already have the cold. Obviously any higher than -3 then yes it starts to look less uncertain. The models will play around with this over the next 2 days shifting things west and east back and forwards on each run. Ultimately I think a last minute push west is on the cards but I also think the ppn area will be very large and effect 75% of the UK. I fully expect to see wide spread snowfall and snow reports over night Saturday. That's not a ramp either, I do like a bit of snow but I'm a summer person and I'll take heat and strong sunshine over any other weather all day long, I would quite happily move to the southern hemisphere at the end of September each year and return to the UK in April! If I want snow, I get on a plane and go skiing in it each year and that's enough of a snow fix for me each season but experience and 25 years of chart viewing and living through the 80's tells me this one is going to be good for those that love snow - I'll even go out on a limb here and say those of you on the coasts wont have an issue either.
  2. Im in Hythe tonight staying with family, can confirm there's no precip here at all? Should there be!
  3. Looks like our chances have been scuppered! This week never looked like it would really get going snow wise so not a surprise there but disappointing to see the weekend chances gradually getting pushed away. Still a chance of something else towards the middle of next week although I think as this week progresses that chance will decrease as well. Not looking good, what a shame but with nearly every model now in agreement it's hard to ignore the facts. Only bit of strawclutching I can take is a hope that GP is seeing something the models aren't!
  4. I've just driven back from London, don't get too excited, very grainy nothingness. Hopefully just the start of things to come though towards the weekend which would be nice! Sadly I don't think we are in for much this week other than frosts. perhaps if the reload does happen post the weekend then it could be good!
  5. I tend to ignore those GFS precip charts as they are generally widely inaccurate. Looking great for the cold now fingers crossed we get some decent snow but at the moment based on what I'm looking at this morning I just can't see where it comes from, everything way too slack to deliver decent snowfall to anywhere. Plenty of time to get some changes and improvements though, the hardest part looks nailed now.... Finally!! after such an intense week of model swaying! Let's hope the detail improves as we go through the next few days.
  6. Most on here are probably closer to France than the far north of Scotland. It certainly does look pretty wild over the next couple of days on the models in those parts.
  7. Happens EVERY year! same stories every April as well about how crazy hot it's going to be every summer.
  8. Wrong forum for that! Sorry I just couldn't resist.
  9. Really odd today, The sky is a kind of blue colour and there's a massive orange circle in it. what's going on?
  10. really coming down fast now, keep getting these narrow bands but there's plenty more in the channel for hours yet so will be happy enough if it keeps coming in these bouts every hour or so! covered all the footprints already in 15 minutes!
  11. think that's it now for us, looking good earlier for the main band to comethis waybut decaying and dying back now according to radar so think we are waytoo far north to get anything else today.
  12. surprised at that inyour location! thick and heavynow 50p size falkes coming down
  13. first bit of the break away band arrived here, not bad, fairly thick flakes coming down quickly. dont think there's more than 20 to 30 mins of it looking at the radar, hoping the next lot doesn't decay too much before arriving!
  14. let me google that for you. http://lmgtfy.com/?q...lage+of+mardale
  15. Just get yourself an air con unit then! We run ours for a few hours each night in summer before going to bed and switch it off when we go to sleep. Room stays cold all night.
  16. I don't think anyone in the south has been expecting any snow at all, be it heavy or light - touch wood it stays that way as well.
  17. Same here and I'm absolutely sure it will -hopefully no snow around these parts last thing needed, roll on summer.
  18. I have to disagree with that! - It certainly felt much warmer and in fact I remember posting to comment I was out in the garden doing jobs in a t shirt - something I wouldn't normally do that time of the year in 10c but with the weather that preluded it it certainly felt miles warmer in comparison. In fact I even sat in the pub garden one day for lunch in just a jumper and it was lovely in the sun. Kind of goes without saying that it would be different with cloud/wind of course but that's not the point.
  19. I'd go with mild weather next weekend as well - no way that chart is going to happen. If it's sowing a northerly now then by the time that happens we#ll be in southerlies - for the past month I've looked at charts a week away that never happen so now I look and work out the oppositte and that's about what we get!
  20. I see next week being an almost carbon copy of this week.
  21. Cold spell over? I wasn't aware we had had one? Not here we haven't!
  22. lol - no chance mate - rain all the way- horrible damp week not even that cold just proper rank - roll on spring please! not far now only just over 4 weeks until the clocks roll on...BRING IT ON!!!!!!!
  23. Looking at the current outputs - snow in the far far north and Scotland - not stickign around so almost pointless - rain everywhere south. come on Spring!
