Was amazed to be woke at 2am to a spectacular Lightning show which was constant and lasted a couple of hours. Brilliant constant rumbles of thunder too. Had round two at 8:30am and can now here more rumbles getting closer. I'm abit worried about tonight if all this is going on now. Are we still on for tonight? Haven't seen the weather forecast on tv yet. Current temperature is 21.9c here and very muggy!

Was woke at around 2am to one hell of a light show, reminded me of the late 80's early 90 storms that would roll through in the night. And now round two, near constant thunder and a few flashes of Lightning! the rain is really coming down now. Is there more to come tonight/tomorrow or has it arrived early? Current temperature is 20c here.

Convective / storm Discussion - 22nd May 2014 onwards
PurpleButterfly replied to Liam J's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
Well I must say that was a decent storm I had here! Impressive lightning and some really good rumbles! Only thing I didn't like was the fact we had a lighting bolt hit right between our building and the one next to us! Scared the life out of me lol we had a storm pass close around 2pm followed half an hour later by one right over head that lasted a good 40 minutes- 942 replies

Just heard that a house was hit by lightning a short drive up the road! Only looks like the roof was damaged! Had a feeling something got hit as the flash was so bright followed by an almighty bang that set car alarms off in my street! -

Possible severe storm Monday 28th October 2013 Part 2
PurpleButterfly replied to Coast's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
I would have to agree 100% with you on this! I've been out in my garden today securing the fence as its looking scared!! Put my rabbits hutch in the shed but if it gets bad i'll bring bunny indoors. I have young children, my daughter is scared bless her but my son has a passion for the weather like his mummy! Just need to get new batteries for the torch and we are all ready! And if its not as bad as expected then at least we no that we can prepare for the worst situations in the future. -

I am excited but also quite worried at the same time about this storm! I remember 87" I was only 6yrs old then! (my I feel old now) I just remember the damage it caused. I hope this storm isn't to bad, we have quite a lot of tree's around our street that are still in full leaf!! I'm going to prepare myself non the less as its better to be ready!! Got to get the garden all sorted and the rabbit moved in doors. What is the wind speed for Bedfordshire estimated at the moment? My location doesn't look good from the charts and the UKMO have the strongest guests at 63mph.
