Atlantic Storms - January Part 2
PurpleButterfly replied to Liam J's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
It has been roaring here since 6pm! As we are the last house and on a corner the wind sounds evil, lots of creaking and low roaring. Very gusty out, a lot more noise and wind than yesterday.- 645 replies

I very much like the amber warning looking like it could be getting closer to my location :smilz38: It would be nice to wake up to snow tomorrow morning! But I'm not going to get to excited, well just a little bit maybe :w00t: I've been watching the MetO change the warnings for snow in my location and it is changing nicely. Its gone from sleet to light snow and now heavy snow for tomorrow morning! All eyes on my trusty lamp post hehe

Atlantic Storms - 13th December 2011 Onwards Part 3
PurpleButterfly replied to Jane Louise's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
Wow just had some big flakes of snow mixed in with the rain! Nice little surprise :smilz38: Feels very cold out and windy. Current conditions Temperature: 4 °C Comfort Level: -1 °C Dew point: 2 °C Barometer: 990 millibars Humidity: 87% Wind: 32 km/h from 240° West-southwest Would be interesting to see what thurs/fri brings. The meto keep downgrading the gusts for my location. I guess its a waiting game. -

What a wild night! Was lovely listening to the wind all night. Was very dark here this morning with a nice big bright moon! Can't see any 'damage' yet outside. Will be doing the school run shortly so will get a good look around. The wind did move things about in my garden, but nothing to bad What will it be like towards the end of the week? Are things still looking bad for the south east? I will look at the charts when I get home later. -

The wind has really picked up here, with the rain getting heavier! Latest pressure is at 994mb, a drop of 2mb or so since 19.30. Wind speed has picked up by 10km in the last hour, not sure of the gust speed as can't find a local station -

Wow it sounds amazing out there! All kinds of gusty sounds lol Well pressure has dropped since 17.30 from 1003mb to 997mb. Quite windy out with rain. I can hear the wind blowing round the house as i'm on the end! Current conditions Temperature: 7 °C Comfort Level: 3 °C Dew point: 5 °C Barometer: 997 millibars Humidity: 87% Visibility: 9 km Wind: 22 km/h from 180° South The above reading was taken at 19.30. Does anyone have a good station for Luton as I am interested in seeing what the gusts are here? -

Thank you so much to all you guy's on all the updates and data on these current storms. It's been a very clear day here. The cloud started to roll in at around 3pm and got dark quite quick. Current conditions here: Temperature: 6 °C Comfort Level: 3 °C Dew point: 2 °C Barometer: 1003 millibars Humidity: 76% Wind: 15 km/h from 200° South-southwest All is quiet at the moment. I've been watching the charts and the weather warnings change since the weekend. What are your thoughts on my neck of the woods? Will I see significant wind/rain here or will it be as the MetO predict, winds of up to 51mph??? This would be for tonight through to friday night. -
Hi everyone, I look foreword to seeing some white gold this winter. That squall line was quite violent when it got here, heavy rain and very gusty winds. Not sure off top wind speed, but the wind was pretty strong! Temperature has dropped today. Current conditions: Sunny. Quite Cool. Temperature: 5 °C Comfort Level: 1 °C Dew point: 0 °C Barometer: 1010 millibars Humidity: 70% Visibility: 16 km Wind: 24 km/h from 250° West-southwest EDIT: When will we see any strong signs of winter weather? I know there isn't much in the offering for us at the moment, but would be good to know when we could expect it here in our corner of the country.

Well that was a nice surprise today. Thank you mother nature Well had a little bit of rain during the school run. It looked very dark to the SSW of me. The cloud keeps trying to brake but its not having much luck. All in all I'm happy with what i got, had rumbling for a good few hours and a few pink/blue flashes of lightning. Good downpour as well so the plants are happy. -

Its starting to brighten up here now. Can't see the sun but cloud seems to be thinning. Haven't heard a rumble for about 10 mins now. Just a few spits of rain. .....Oh wait, no we still have distant rumbles! -

Yes the same here, i seem to be on the tip of a storm now. Very dark with heavy rain and rumbling. And I'm guessing that it will be right over head when i leave for the school run -

I might have to turn the lights on in a minute, its got very dark here with the rumbling getting more often and louder. No lightning yet, but I seem to be right in the middle of all the action! Just got myself a new lightning/storm radar toy and its amazing to see how much action is around me. -

PurpleButterfly replied to Coast's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
I can hear distant deep rumbles of thunder. Feels a bit warmer outside. Current temp: 17c, dew point 17c and humidity 83%. Earlier we had a heavy rain shower and nothing on the radar. -

I have just had a look outside and seen the same affect. Dark night sky with white bottom clouds and stars. Quite beautiful to look at. Going to see if i can get a decent picture, but dont hold your breath on that Current temp is 21c now with dew point at 16c and humidity at 73%. Still have the northerly wind direction but there is no wind outside at the moment. -

PurpleButterfly replied to Jane Louise's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
Well I'm starting to feel really disappointed now The temperature has gone from 26c to 22c in about a hour. We have dew point of 17c and humidity is at 73%. With Northerly winds. Does this mean I won't be seeing any action here? We had some large drops of rain earlier within two burst and the wind did pick up. Still feels quite muggy and still outside. -
