  1. 100,000 people live in Derry. It's the second largest city in Northern Ireland. Using their chart I'd place that as a yellow - low likelihood - high impact.
  2. They haven't even nailed tomorrow yet, worrying about Thurs is futile.
  3. It's behind a paywall so the assumption is presumably no, as they forum would need to pay for it.
  4. The same reason they seem to be underestimating the potential snowfall for the North West imho, there focusing entirely on snowfall depths as the low pushes through and not very much on the shower's associated.
  5. Accuweather has a decent guide on thisl https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/what-is-the-difference-between-freezing-rain-sleet-snow-hail-and-graupel/70006825 Was heavy ice pellets and graupel here, would expect it would be about same where you are? But was heavy and loud as it bounced off the windows and ground for sure.
  6. Last week upgraded as the radar formed the showers. At least round here Never give up.
  7. Knowing this place, there's some who could find a way to separate the two
  8. Surely troughs should be on the FAX by now with it being less than 48 hours? Probably showers.
  9. For all your non-model upcoming cold spell discussion that isn't strictly regional based. Where's Tuesday's low going to affect? Will it snow in my back yard on Wednesday? Where are the latest met office weather warnings for? Is Thursday's low weakening and does that stop my house being buried? Is dry snow better than wet snow? Will it rain?
  10. The snow has to be particularly heavy for that to happen in my experience though. It just settles the nerves to have an "all snow" event.
  11. Basing purely off observations of snow fall in the past, it'll take quite a few hours for that heavy snow to settle on the ground, due to the wet surface from the heavy rain directly preceding it. It probably will settle eventually as it's only a bit of rain but there's really nothing worse than watching snow melt into rainwater.
  12. Whilst I've seen decent settling from rain to snow events, it would do the nerves some good if these heavy rain symbols tomorrow afternoon on the met office forecast turned to heavy snow.
  13. She does this every winter, typically the midlands gets pasted as we watch it sink south.....
  14. Unless your a dwarf (and even then tbh) I wouldn't hold that much hope out.
  15. Anywhere south of around Darlington probably yes. Will only be a few cms.
  16. No it's genuinely on early this week.... I just checked
